Owen Will Help United A Lot

Anderson believes that the capture of Michael Owen is excellent business for Manchester United. The Brazilian midfielder says that Owen once enchanted the world and is capable of doing so again.

"I am certain that he will help us a lot. He is a player who has played a big part in the history of English football.

"I hope he has more success in Manchester and helps us repeat the excellent season that we had last year.

"Owen is more than just an athlete, he is the pride of the country. Our intention at United is to help him get back to his best.

We want to have the player who enchanted the world at the beginning of his career."

Well, obviously who is looking up to everyone who ever scored a goal! But seriously, I still think that all this enthusiasm regarding the move is misguided: that won't bring back Owen's youthful pace nor will make him a better all-round player. I hope the optimists will be proved right but for my part I'm still pessimistic about it.

Owen to me will do ok at united , for a free thats a good catch .
Kimbo
Yeah I think he will do OK also. He will spend the majority of the season on the bench to be used in the last 20-30 mins when a goal is needed I expect.
Claretdale
If he stays fit and we supply him with the chances we usually create, then he will score on most chances.

He's more than just an athlete. He's a crocked athlete.

Wrong...Owen can only score from teh long ball over the top..so you betta get used to playing long ball tactics...he`s too thick to play 1 - 2 touch football

Kimbo, yes yes yes. no lose situation. we don't miss much whatever happens. if he's a success though, brilliant.

yes... abmtd... we're a very creative team but we need a finisher... that was Ole, it was Saha and it could be Owen.

Thinking of that... similarities with Saha in 2006/07? Big name player left (Ronaldo/Ruud) everyone said we'd struggle... injury-prone striker (Saha/Owen?) brought the best out of Rooney and we scored more than we had in ages and won the title...
