It's Official: Benzema Is Going To Madrid

Olympique Lyon confirmed that they reached an agreement with Real Madrid about the transfer of Karim Benzema for a fee of 35m euros which may eventually rise to 41m euros.

The statement claims that Benzema asked Lyon to be allowed to leave as he was keen to be part of Real Madrid's new Galactico project and the club granted his wish after a little negotiation.

Well, if he was really a transfer target for Fergie then he must be disappointed - but I guess he'll be over it soon and turn his attention towards others.

Not many top class strikers available to be honest. The only ones I can think of are Eto'o, Aguero, Zlatan, Villa and Adebayor. They could also be described as Too Greedy, Too Pricey, Too Hyped, Too Picky and Too Crap. After those guys anyone else just a gamble - Fabiano, Huntelaar, Owen, Berg, Gignac, Vucinic, Rossi, Pandev, Trezeguet. Personally, I'd go for Berg. Has all the attributes we're looking for even though he doesn't have much experience at the top level. But hey, who knows how any of those guys would adapt to the prem. Better to sign him now while he's cheap. Not a fan of Gignac though! No matter how many more goals he scored than Benzema.

The only good players signing for Manchester clubs this window will be going to Eastlands. Manyoo have had their day and from here on in it's going to be downhill. Fergie will have to retire on a low -- as you bring in someone with more flair, imagination and get up and go. Someone like Sam Allardyce.

I tell you what sindbad, if you guys get Eto'o - fair play. Until then Tevez and Santa Cruz are just a poor mans Rooney and Berba!

Sindbad - There he is! The only good players will be signing for Man City!? Hahaha you think if we are in for the same players you want, they'll choose you? Why? So they can be part of a project that no one knows how it'll turn out or they'll join a team rivalling with Madrid as biggest and most prestigious? All the players going to sh1-tty do not interest us and lucky for you. We've had our day? Don't be stpuid, we've lost better players in the past and have still moved on and this will be no different. But keep telling yourself that, it's rather amusing!

I really don't think Benzema was Fergie's first choice as he would've acted a while ago considering Benzema's rather reasonable fee! But I know everyone will be going on about how we were rejected and we're losing all our targets! Nonsense, Benzema is the only player we've been correctly linked with and we never put in a bid so how could he reject us? Ribery? Its all paper reports and journalists just looking for something to write. Douglas Costa and Valencia are the only players we actually put in bids for and we got one. Not forgetting that Real was also in for Valencia!

You've got Berbatov and Rooney, and you're still coached by the best manager in the world. Even without a big name signing, you'll be fine.

Well, Fergie did say that Fabio Capello would be taking Welbeck to the world cup and there is no way he could do that unless Welbeck was playing first team football. So perhaps Fergie doesn't intend to sign a striker! "You don't win anything with kids!"

Just heard ribery only wants to move to real circus, are they providing thses players with gold mines or something like that,it makes u wonder at times?

Seriously I wouldn't even mind that,at times u have to make decisions like that and if he proves to be a hit then it will be a master stroke, after all its fergie.

I still feel we have to buy one more player in the midfield, whether we buy anyone in the striking department or not, thats up to fergie,I won't complain but I did like your suggestion of the young kid berg,he won't be that costly,so its better to buy him now as u said.

I hope that fergie just tries to turn his attentions back to england and he puts in a bid for young. He would be the best signing for me.

If I was a pro, I'd join madrid too to be fair. ***** loads of cash but also the chance to play along side some of the greatest players of your generation in what could go down as (assuming they actually get them playing well together) the greatest club side ever assembled. Regardless of how miffed we get when another player says they want to play for madrid, you have to admit it is a rather exciting prospect. Its win win for everyone that loves football because you either get to see an amazing spectacle or you get to see the flash *****s fall flat on their faces! Either way, at least no one in the premier league has that sort of pulling power - then we'd really have something to cry about!

We're being linked with Pato now. I know we have a few brazillians already but the likelyhood of him leaving milan is slim and then when you consider that Ancelotti wants him too we can expect that he'd only leave milan for chelsea. Eto'o is the only world class striker left who doesn't have an extortionate transfer fee. Beyond that Huntelaar and Fabiano keep coming up, but for me Berg has just as much chance of succeeding as those two. Still, I'm 100% confident of domestic success if we don't sign anyone - although the champions league might be a bit too much to hope for with youngsters up front.

Tuscan,I really don't agree that each and everyone would like to play for real, seriously not,I just think the portugese and the south americans. Most probably from these two areas,u will find plenty of them but in other parts I guess u will find plenty who support the english, italians, etc.but the main problem is money in today's game, the way u get paid, then ofcourse the wife, there was a time I never even heard that excuse and then even if the player is at peace the agent won't let that happen,he will spread a rumour out,I can just go on writing,if u say so.

Also if u look at players like sneijder, mahamadou diarra, van der vaart, its next to impossible, they will be getting starting places but still they are prepared to sit tight and warm the bench, eventhough there are other big clubs waiting for them,so it gives u an indication why these players are there and what their main objective is.Then u look at scolari claiming that he wouldn't want to coach in england because of the tax,so I really wouldn't want to even see such players playing for the red of manchester.I'm not saying money is not important, yes it is and our players also play for that but u should atleastshow some desire to earn it and when I look at rooney and our other players, there is always that hunger, that passion to win, which u will hardly find in places like madrid.

I am truely and utterly disapointed...hoped he would wear the red me he was the striker we needed not berba....I'm still hoping for some sort of u-turn but i don't see it coming... I don't think our team is capable of competeing on any front...maybe league cup or something....we lost the two main players of last two seasons and so far have done nothing about it...valencia is not even worth mentioning...not sure why we bought him...

Ibrahiy, atleast give that lad a chance,if u start criticising him before even touching the ball for utd does it make any sense.I'm pretty sure if he was a ribery or a aguero u would be over the moon just because they are household names and not because they have shined for utd.

Aguero has a good goal scoring record in the last two years, but so does forlan, and he didn't light up the scoring charts did he? If we pay 50M for aguero, where does that leave berba, macheda and welbeck? AS for Ribery he is never worth more than 25M - he has Malouda written all over him - at least he didn't cost over 50m!

I obv prefer to be proven wrong on valencia...but it is not about big names its about watching him play....he doesn't have class fitting to united...i watched aguerro play and i think i mentioned this before when on form he strikes me as tevez with his effort but even more prolific.....i wish for him to come but i don't see it happening....i am talking about wether the guy is gonna improve us or is he just a makshift temporary relief till maybe next season when someone steps up....
