Vidic Defies The Missus!

Vidic Defies The Missus!

Nemanja Vidic could never be mistaken for a coward but his latest action speaks more of his bravery than anything he did on the field: he stood up to his wife!

There's been speculation for a long time that Ana Vidic doesn't like Manchester and would prefer a sunnier climate. Vida wouldn't be short of offers if he decided to leave.

"My wife Ana is unhappy with our lifestyle in Manchester but I am not going to change my mind as I am happy with the team and Manchester and the club's ambitions," Vidic said.

"I got offers from Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid and I played a very honest game - I disclosed all these offers to my boss Sir Alex.

"He reacted quickly. I was told he was raising my pay to bring it to the level where my reputation is in the Premier League and Europe.

"After Milan and Real Madrid made their offers, Barcelona came in - they wanted to pay £30m for my services, but after Sir Alex's move, I am definitely staying in Manchester until my contract expires in 2012."

A legend, this man.

I'd start looking for a replacement now! I'm sure he has every intention of seeing out his contract, but wives can make a mans life miserable at the best of times let alone when they are genuinely unhappy. I'd miss vidic but he'll be 28 next summer and if we're gonna be waiting on the whims of his wifes hapiness every season, I'd rather cash in at £35M next summer, bring through Johnny Evans and start seeking a younger replacement.

It isn't the end of the transfer window yet... When he gets a postcard from Ronaldo telling him how great Madrid is, he could change his mind. On the other hand if Man City came in for him he wouldn't even have to move, would he?

Sinbad - unfortunately for you not everyone's dream is to play for Real. If you came in for him?? Again, unfortunately for you Vidic is no moneygrabbing knobhead like all your transfer targets.

He lived in cold Moscow with his missus, and what's wrong with the weather in England?

Can't understand this hullabaloo about the British weather. I made a few trips to your country (in various seasons) as part of my IT project there. Did not find the cold a big problem, though if someone was living in a hut there might be some issues. Does Vidic live in a hut, perchance ?

I can't really understand whether today's players have any ambition to play for the club or they just come for a picnic, enjoy the nice weather and move on,seriously this is becoming a joke.

"Even though Vidic has not spoken for the last three months, there have been false interviews published in the press," Martina told Gazzetta dello Sport. "I read that he wants to leave, that his wife is not happy at Manchester but all of these stories are false. "He is very annoyed and saddened by these stories that give the wrong impression. "In football you never know what can happen, but I believe he will remain at Manchester United, one of the strongest clubs in the world. "If Vidic or I should have problems with the club (United), we will talk directly to Alex Ferguson and not to the newspapers."
