Irwin: Valencia Will Be A Great Signing

One of the most likeable Old Trafford legends, Dennis Irwin believes that Antonio Valencia will be a great capture for Manchester United. The Ecuadorian winger has signed a four-year contract at Old Trafford to become our first summer signing.

'He`s very direct, you can tell he`s a worker and he`s got great pace,' Irwin told MUTV.

'He`s a good player and he gives us more options up front.

'I was very impressed with him in the two games I saw him play last season, especially at Old Trafford. I think he`ll be a great signing for us.'

Hopefully he's right - and he knows a thing or two about wingers!

This transfer is a bit like locking the stadium doors after the best players have left... He's a decent signing but he will give nothing that Ronaldo didn't give. It looks like the Yanks are going to siphon off most of the cash. Uh-oh, time for the old man to hang up his hairdryer.

"He's a decent signing but he will give nothing that Ronaldo didn't give" - what were you expecting????! That's fine by me... oh but he will - a bit of teamwork and unselfishness, setting up goals more wouldn't go amiss?? You only have to look at the Champions League Final to see that Ronaldo was in the centre and took nearly all the chances, whereas Rooney was stuffed out on the wing, and Berbatov and Tevez only made the bench.... we signed Ronaldo to be a winger not a centre forward...

This guy is not united's standard...we have taken a huge huge step down in class with letting ronaldo go and only getting him....I realize there is not much in the market now a days, and def not many flair players that both madrid and barca don't have already....so on that premises i accept that we get a temporary solution....but to tell me he is a good player...well he is not

and i don't believe he will ever be classy enough, or ever be a crowd favourite...i am very disapointed with all that has gone on as of late in the transfer window and i think united will struggle to compete in the transfer window..
