Tevez Harbouring Delusions About CL Final

Tevez Harbouring Delusions About CL Final

It looks like Carlos Tevez is eager to lose the respect of Manchester United fans after insisting several times how much he loved them. Now he hit out at Fergie for not starting him at Rome against Barcelona.

'You cannot argue with Alex Ferguson,' he said.

'He is like the president of England. It is impossible. You always lose. But he made a mistake to leave me on the bench. That was the only final the team had lost since I had been at Manchester United.'

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Tevez introduced after 45 minutes? And what difference did he make? Nothing at all, precisely. Why? Because A) he's not good enough to turn around a Champions League final against Barcelona and B) his presence on the pitch still did not improve our midfield which was the prime reason of our defeat.

By the way, I remember the earlier finals in which Tevez played. He missed two great chances in Moscow; he was crap in the Carling Cup final at Wembley; he was invisible against LDU Quito in Japan. So what exactly makes him say he would have done a better job than Rooney, Park or Giggs? His delusions, that's what.

By the way, Tevez tells us what a terrible time he had at United.

'My family knows how much I suffered at United. I could not arrive home after a match or a training session and forget my pain. It was not good and I transmitted all my sadness to them.'

It must be horrible to play 51 games in the red shirt of Manchester United in one season, starting 34 and being in the starting line-up in a Champions League semi-final, two league games against arch-rivals Liverpool and a home derby against City, not to mention a cup final. I really, really understand his horrible pain and suffering; after all, he was paid only about 90,000-a-week for all these gruesome experiences.

Really, Carlos, you should keep your mouth shut because you're becoming embarassing. More and more a Citeh player by every passing day.

He couldn't turn around the Champions League Final not because he is not good enough, simply because the midfield were not good enough. If he started, which implied Fergie adopted a more aggressive approach to the game, the result could be different. Starting Park instead meant Fergie wanted a "safe" approach to the game, which almost everyone knows, it was a mistake. The South American duo Tevez and Anderson could really played well together if they started. Perhaps because of the 1-4 Liverpool defeat Fergie lost his confidence in some way and couldn't risk playing them (as they played and lost that game). Fergie knew there was "crack" (like Benitez said to Man Utd team) in the midfield, but couldn't do anything to improve it. That could be why he changed around the midfield far too frequently. Tevez didn't play to his best in Moscow, Carling Cup and Japan, but the team still won right? You can only judge him if he didn't play well and lost the final, other than that, you are just biased and picking him as the only one to criticize out of nothing at all. He said he suffered means Fergie no longer trusted him and treated him as part of the family anymore. When that is the case, it is always hard to continue with the club. What's wrong saying it loud? At least he has the guts to say it. I remember Yorke said Solskjaer wasn't happy as a super-sub too but couldn't say a thing. Remember that, different people have different temperament. Some are just brave enough to express how he feels. What's wrong with that? About delusion, I would say, if Tevez were deluded, then Fergie should be even more deluded as he always wanted another Cantona and thought he found one in Berbatov. That is delusion. When Tevez said he can play well he really means it, just that you never have the chance to see it, simply because Fergie somewhat suppressed his talent by wasting it on the bench. You will definitely see it next season. It is not him who is deluded, it is you who is blind.

Windlleaf-U say that he was wasted on the bench but for me its the opposite,I can hardly remember tevez doing well when he started.Infact he was at his best when he came from the bench(wigan, porto, spurs, and the list goes on).We already have a tevez type of player in rooney and berba may not have been at his best but what is it 14 goals and 14 assists is not bad by any means and I'm pretty sure its only going to get better now that ronaldo is gone.

I can understand tevez's problem and as I said he seems to have wanted more playing time which looks likely if city don't end up buying any other striker but by making such statements about his former teammate and manager, its only making him look like a fool as he really does not have much proof to back it up.He might have great energy but berba's one movement can overshadow his entire energy that he puts in.

Just to sum it up,try to recall the man city game in which tevez scored the second goal.Beautiful strike but who was the creator?would tevez be able to bring the ball down in that manner?
30/06/2009 14:21:00
I like Tevez a lot, but I don't understand why he's being so critical now -i have certain sympathies with him, and I do think we should have stuck with the Tevez-Rooney partnership a bit more but he can hardly complain about being mistreated....

Yes United midfield was definately not good enough vs Barca, hardly Tevez's fault and I agree Tevez and Rooney should have had more of a chance to play together for longer periods of time. But that is in the past, time to look forward. Someone say something about Gourcuff! He is the creative midfielder United need!

abmtd, do you remember the game Tev scored 4 past Blackburn? Do you remember the FA Cup game against Fulham that Tev was certainly the best player on the pitch? He started these games without Ronaldo and Berbatov and he played well, can you find an explanation of that? I couldn't, that is why I sense he has the potential to be the best player. He even started and played well against Man City and Arsenal (CL semi) and everyone knew that he was the best player in these games, and I still couldn't find the explanation why he was the best, thus you can see his potential. But when he played well, what did Fergie do? Fergie still sat him on the bench most of the time (he only "obviously" got to play more when Rooney or Berbatov was injured). How about Berbatov? Berbatov's form was decent (not too bad but not too good either) but he was completely ineffective sometimes, yet Fergie still played him more regularly, regardless of his form. Besides, it seems that ONLY Fergie wanted Berbatov simply because he resembles Cantona, but I bet other big clubs wouldn't even consider buying him (If others wanted him he would have been "hot" in the market long ago when he was younger, he is now 28.) Why? Because other big clubs would not feel like liking his approach or style to the game. If not because Tev said he wanted to stay in EPL, more offers could have come in for him already. The demand from big clubs says it all who is better for the benefit of the team, and I haven't even mentioned the fan support. If not Berbatov reminds Fergie of Cantona I bet Fergie never even considered taking him as well. That is why I said Fergie could be deluded, not Tevez.

Berbatov is simply a better footballer than Tevez. Cantona is irrelevant. The facts are Berba scores more goals and makes more assists. You say you're unable to find an explanation as to why Tevez was the best player on the pitch when he started against blackburn - try any of these -he was playing against BLACKBURN!!! Not just any blackburn, but paul inces blackburn. He scored a penalty and was given an own goal to add to a wonder strike and a tap in. None of the players that are better than him played. Every dog has its day. It was the carling cup! Even when Tevez plays well - he still gives the ball away to often, he still misses too many easy chances and is all too often out of position when you need him up front. He is a good player, but he isn't better than rooney or berba and certainly isn't worth £25m. I know it, fergie knows it and soon everyone on the blue half of manchester will know it.

To tuscan3000. Oh man, you only "explained" to me the Blackburn game, how about other games that I mentioned? No explanation? You can't explain right? You can't explain perhaps you also sense that Tev could somehow be the best, yet he couldn't be we don't know why. Perhaps it had something to do with his state of mind i.e. he didn't have peace of mind throughout the season. Why? Because Man Utd should have "signed him up" quickly but procrastinate and he has to worry about his future. No top footballer can play his best if he has no peace of mind. That was why Tev suffered. Berbatov can control the ball better than Rooney and even "The World Best Player" Ronaldo, but it doesn't mean he could be or will be the best player in the world. You have to look at the overall performance of a player, his potential, his talent, his skill, his approach to the game etc combined to see if he is or will be the best. In overall, Tev is certainly the best and he has the potential to be the world best player, but Berbatov will never have that. Fergie could be deluded that is why he couldn't know how to unleash Tev's potential. Tev gave the ball away sometimes, but he sometimes controlled and moved the ball so well that perplexed the defenders and sent them the wrong direction. He even dribble past 2 defenders (Man City) and 3 defenders (Colombia). How do you explain that? Do Rooney and Berbatov have the talent to do that? No. Only Ronaldo has it beside Tev. And who wouldn't miss chances occasionally? I saw Messi missed a lot of chances as well. I even saw David Villa missed a lot of chances against USA. And Tev wasn't out of position often, he is just not the type of strikers like Torres who always waits for feeding up front. Torres scored a lot but if no feed to him, he was completely useless at all. Tev prefers to play in the hole and LEAD the attack i.e. he likes the team to center around him to let him lead and help the team, but Fergie seldom let him do that, thus restrict his talent. If you still want to argue, I suggest to simply wait for next season for all of us to witness, whether you are right that Tev is a flop, or that Tev will be among the greatest. My bet is, Berbatov will disappoint you while Tev will not disappoint his new club. You will see.

Windleaf-I never said that tevez doesn't deserve to be a utd player or he is a crap player but its just that I fancy berba over tevez as u fancy the opposite, its just our opinions, both the players have something different to offer which could change games but in rooney we already have someone like tevez,so for me its important to have someone different to tevez and rooney. This season I guess we will see a much more confident berbatov.
