'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Silver Fox Brings Out The Weapons

Ex-United legend Mark Hughes believes his old manager will be trying every trick in the book to unsettle Jose Mourinho in the Premiership run-in.

Sir Alex Ferguson did it to Kevin Keegan ten years ago, when the poor little Scouser nearly had a nervous breakdown. Whether he can do it the 'Special One' is open to debate.

Hughes has played for both clubs (although obviously not under Mourninho) and he thinks he knows how the pair will lock horns in battle. Ferguson will be turning to his psychological-warfare while Mr Cool will will try and swat him away as though he isn't in the slightest bothered by the war games.

Hughes: 'Chelsea would think they only need a couple more wins but United will think it is not over yet.

'Sir Alex has had opportunities in the past to affect opposing managers and people have accepted that he has had an impact so I'm sure he will try it again.

'There are ways and means to plant a seed of doubt in other people's minds.

'We play Chelsea on the Tuesday of the last week of the season and if we are still chasing European places then it could be to our advantage if we are playing a Chelsea side who have won the title the previous Saturday.

'It could be construed to be to our advantage but we will have to remember they are top players and a top manager and we will still have to go out there and get the job done.'

I'm sure Chelsea will be delighted to do Mark Hughes a favour and let him have his UEFA cup spot. That sounds just like Mourinho, doesn't it?
