Douglas Costa Not Coming To United For Trial

Douglas Costa Not Coming To United For Trial

Gremio confirmed that Douglas Costa would not be allowed to join United for trial. According to numerous rumours, Sir Alex was keen to see the 18-year-old in training before making a decision about him.

However, the president insisted that Costa 'is past that stage': he's too good for a trial. So, we have to decide on scout reports, videos and such things whether we want him or not.

I hope Sir Alex won't regard this as an insult: he should seriously consider this guy because he looks very talented albeit he's allegedly very expensive as well.

Have seen some vids on youtube and this guy looks pretty handy, apparently has impressed for brazil under 21s also.if iwas fergie i'd see him as a fair gamble,if you can pay 15-17 mill for Anderson and Nani,I'd say this guy was worth a punt too.On vids appears to be dripping with skill.£18 million is a bit steep but in todays daftly inflated market is probably fair,Ronaldo cost nearly £13 mill 6 years ago.Is probably most realistic flair player target as well as I reckon the Riberys and Benzemas of the world dont seem overly bothered about joining utd right now.Bit worried about that really!

Fergie wouldn't ask for a trial for a player whose talent was undoubted. Whilst I think he could be a good player, not sure if we should be spending over £15M on an unproven 18 year old who has never played in europe and can't get a consistent starting spot at Gremio. I'd like to see us go for Ashley Young if we're gonna be throwing that kind of money around.

I'm not against him coming, but I think Fergie needs to be as sure as possible... he could end up being a bargain or a waste of money. Agree on the Ashley Young front - he's proven Premier League and also English. Could see him doing well with United (which would also be a bonus for him with the World Cup coming up). Not sure Villa would sell but would love to see him...

It will take more time to him to adjust for the physical part of the game.. Ronaldo had plenty first team opportunuties before his maturity but i doubt Douglas will.
