It's Funny: Madrid Moans About Astronomical Prices

Poor old Real Madrid. It looks like they cannot afford to break the bank for the third and fourth time for David Villa and Franck Ribery because their respective clubs demand too much money for their services.

'If Barca have offered 50 million euros for Villa, plus Bojan and Caceres, I would sell if I was Valencia because we're not going to try and top that,' sporting director Jorge Valdano confirmed.

'We have been in discussions over the last week and there were disagreements. On top of money, they want a player and that was causing problems.

'What had seemed to be a deal on track instead became twisted. We don't know why the price became so high.'

Don't you? Surely it had nothing to do with Real Madrid paying world record fees twice within a week... And Valdano had even more to complain about.

'Zidane speaks highly of Ribery,' he said. 'And at one point there was interest but it's a difficult one.

'Bayern are asking astronomical figures and it's clear they do not intend to sell.'

The astronomical figure they reportedly want for Ribery is still lower than what Real will pay for Ronaldo once the deal goes through. It looks like Valdano and co. are not very skilled in economics: they made the prices go up with their exorbitant fees but now they are surprised that they are expected to pay astronomical money for their other targets as well. The market works this way, Jorge.

Seriously even I feel for this club, what has it done to be treated like that?why r everyone raising the price tag of their respective players when this poor little club comes along?Besides the other clubs should b grateful that real the almighty club r coming to deal with them,am I wrong Mr.Calderon?I must say some clubs r so silly to pass on the opportunity to deal with real madrid.By the way my memory is not the best,so can anyone be kind enough to tell me which is the club that paid close to 150million pounds on two players?

I still have a solution for this circus of a club,I've heard that the king of spain, rafael nadal r big fans of real circus,so why don't real circus just beg these guys to lend them some cash or try again to strike a deal with one of the banks in spain to lend them some cash, after all thats what they have been doing.I guess they can still sell their training ground like they did in their last galactico era.So u still have a lot of options.

Why is it funny? They have their spending limit, too.
JT_daniel
What spending limit? How can you spend such extraordinary amounts on two players if you know there isn't going to be enough for more? Thats just sheer stupidity!

They have loaned most of their money, FU. They have another 40-50 million to burn, I reckon. But they have distorted the whole bloody market so much, that any player is instantly valued at 30-40 million, if RM throw their hat into the ring. So that remaining money will not get them any good players. Their own fault! But its their policy, buying established stars. It works wonders for them, commercially and garuntees the odd trophy.

The fixtures seem to be okay... big games fairly spread out. Start with 2 promoted teams which I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not as they might be up for everything at this stage. Liverpool A on the 24th October... Rooney's birthday - love to do one over them after last seasons' defeats.
