'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Rooney Is Right: Iniesta Is The World's Best

Our players were graceful in defeat and congratulated the opposition - something other teams could not do this season... But that doesn't matter now. Rooney, Rio, Ronaldo and Fergie all admitted that Barcelona were the better team on the night.

'They are a brilliant team and I think Iniesta is the best player in the world at the moment,' Rooney said.

Sir Alex: 'We recognised beforehand their strength was their central midfielders. It wasn't really Messi who was the problem. It was Iniesta and Xavi. They can keep the ball all night long.

'You have to give credit to a very good Barcelona team. If they get in front of you they are very difficult to beat.'

True and I have to agree with Rooney's assessment: Iniesta is the best player in the world right now. There's much talk about Messi winning Ballon d'Or but his performance was downright mediocre when compared to his colleagues Xavi and especially the majestic Iniesta. He should be crowned in December even though that's still a long way off.

Exactly, this boy Iniesta is really special but I would expect Messi to win it in december but when barca required a match winner it was Iniesta and not Messi who decided it at Stamford bridge. There were a couple of times when he just ran passed our midfield, our midfield was crying out for Owen Hargreaves.I just hope he is completely fit next season. He can be the difference between winning and losing.

Messi will definitely win it, even though he was thwarted twice against Chelsea. He scores more goals than Iniesta and has a much higher profile. Ronaldo will probably come in second, although that may be generous.

MAN UTD were battered by a bigger and better club... the battering of Man Utd wont be forgotten for years because it was the Champs league final....that makes it even sweeter..

Messi is gifted with exceptional ability, sure, but Iniesta is probably the complete footballer. The way he dominated your players in the final was superb. His first touch is great; he always seemed to have an extra yard of pace and his anticipation was uncanny. There were times when it looked the only way you could get the ball from him was with a rugby tackle.

Messi is over-rated always has been - bit like that show ponty Ronaldo!

Merlin, have to agree. Iniesta and Xavi I'd much prefer, and despite not proving it on the night, Rooney, than Ronaldo and Messi... they don't grab the headlines but are genuinely more influential to their team's fortunes.
