'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Congratulations Barcelona!

Well, this is it guys. It was another great adventure, another fantastic season but in the end we fell at the final hurdle. NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF.

Congratulations to Barcelona: they were the better team on the night and deserved their win. It could have been different, oh yes, but ultimately they are worthy winners. They deserve credit for their achievement which sets them apart this season.

So: congratulations, Barcelona!

Unlucky for you guys, you just couldn't get any rhythm going. For all the talk of Messi and Ronaldo, the ones to get you off your seat, it was the artists and intellects of the game in Xavi and, even more so, Iniesta who had that little bit too much quality to handle. There was too much to admire about Barca to detract from your performance.
ArsenalRob
You guys were totally outclassed by Barca. Be aware that Manchester City will do the same to you next season. We have a special relationship with class and quality just like Barca do.
Sindbad
Alex Ferguson got his selection all wrong tonight, he should of picked Howard Webb

ArsenalRob: I agree entirely about Xavi and Iniesta. Oh, and I swear I did not see Vital Chelsea's article before writing this! :-)
Zae
Good on ya for this. I can think of one or two Vital Man Utd'ers who wouldn't have said congratulations, so well done.
Aamir
Apparently, they were two 'shoddy' goals conceded. Learn yerself some dignity will you, and *****in retire - classless****. No choice but to speak to ITV. Dead funny. 5 times. Always in our shadow. You did Busby proud tonight. Richest, biggest, whatever but never, ever, ever, the greatest. Tough to live with, I bet.
Howard
It's disappointing to see the English team crash out. It should've been a guaranteed English winner in an all English final but as it wasn't (yup still bitter), I was hoping that United would put a couple past Valdes. Maybe have Barcelona denied a few definite penalties, see how gracious they are then... (maybe even more bitter than I had thought!) but in the end, United paid for having the intention to set out to attack Barcelona, it's something most teams have found this season and I'm not too bitter (to United anyway) to congratulate on what's been a fantastic season for you, even if tonight didn't play as planned. Hope that it's a Chelsea vs United match up for the CL final next year. See you next season...
The_Legend_Of_Zola
'See you next season...' you just reminded me that it's the end of the season... how depressing...
ArsenalRob
Sorry Rob... There's always the U21s to keep you going over the Summer?
The_Legend_Of_Zola
...And yet another year of British failure at Wimbledon. :(
Aamir
Nice to see a bit of healthy optimism Aamir.
The_Legend_Of_Zola
did utd turn up tonight?
fran merida
Good to see Chelski Scum and Man U scum being arrogant as always. Pity it wasnt more than 2v0 it certainly should have been
BrighouseWhite
Unlucky boys, I was routing for you tonight! You didn't play as well as you could, but kinda "swansong" for Tevez - maybe Ronaldo - who should have been sent off! Anyway, next year, we'll meet you in the final - If UEFA allow it (allegedly)

You got schooled by the better team. Nothing to be ashamed of. Maybe this might humanise the motor mouth, Evra, but my sympathy to the real fans, for the glory hunters, its another party deferred.
deledudu
no complaints. first ten minutes brilliant, then we went home. didn't perform on the night - Barcelona dservedly won. we couldn't get it together - i felt for the team - rooney looked like he was about to cry half the match. for scholes and giggs... that was their chance. disappointed but we can't complain - barcelona were better on the night. congratulations to them
Man utd champions
england qualifiers in june isn't there? and then pre-season friendlies in july... and then the season starts again. gets shorter every year. not so bad. howard, what on earth? did you listen to every single united player saying they lost to the better team? they were 'shoddy' goals - barcelona did well but our defence didn't play as we could. get a grip - talk about no grace- benetiz saying the best team in the league would finish second this season?! that works....
Man utd champions
It does work actually considering we beat you twice convicingly this season.
wiggy1990
wiggy-Its not what u do against utd that counts. There are 18 other teams out there. The league table never lies, over 38 games your team was not good enough.Sorry mate but thats a fact!
abmtd
How is it that Chelsea and Arsenal fans whose teams were so close to the final can afford to be so gracious, yet Liverpool and Spurs (wtf?) fans are laughing their arses off? You'd think their clubs had some sort of major achievements under their belts this season. Opposition fans always wanna know what makes united fans so arrogant - its avoiding relegation and finishing higher than 3rd - those lofty achievements can really mess with your ego! Good like fighting it out over stuart downing this summer lads!
tuscan3000
wiggy1990, the title is about winning the most games (or getting the most points) not beating the top teams (though this may help) and losing to the likes of Middlesbrough and drawing too many games was what cost you. 2006/07 Arsenal did the double over us; 2007/08 it was City, this season it was Liverpool. 3 seasons, 3 rivals do the double over us, 3 league titles. it is 38 games, not 2 that matter. well said abmtd
Man utd champions
precisely, tuscan3000. The only other teams in the prem that could possibly win ANYTHING this season are Everton or Chelsea (FA Cup). we won the community shield, carling cup, club world cup and the title - still a terrific season. then we lost out in the semis of the FA cup on penalties, and didn't get going in the Champions league final. compare any other team in England and i don't think they'd have a case.
Man utd champions
tuscan3000, can't talk for Spurs fans but Liverpool fans are just responding to all the signing that Manu fans sang about Liverpool in Rome. It was strange to hear song like are you watching Merseyside and Rafa is cracking up in Rome. One would've thought that Manu fans would sing about their own team, you know, the team that just won the league and reached the CL final.
JohnDoe
Lol they shouldn't even be in the final! Uefa won the CL not Barca!
Rune3k
Tough luck guys. But it's disappointing to see your heads go down just after the first goal, albeit against the run of play in the first 10 mins. Everyone would've expected better from Utd. Fair result though, Barca are indeed the best team in the world. See you next season!
GoonerLou
I didn't say you weren't champions. I just said you are not the best team. You can hardly claim to be the best int the world or whatever since you didn't beat us.
wiggy1990
well wiggy1990, how could YOU claim to be the best in the world by losing to Middlesbrough (who got relegated). therefore, no one can be the best unless they beat everyone (which very often doesn't happen)
Man utd champions
I never claimed we were the best in the world. I only proved you lot aren't.
wiggy1990
that means we are better than liverpool lol wahey
