'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Berbatov Knows He's Got To Improve

Dimitar Berbatov confessed what had been evident for everyone who had seen him play this season: he's still suffering from nerves whenever he pulls on United's red shirt.

"I was obviously a bit nervous at the beginning and I am still nervous," he said.

"But when you play for the biggest club in the world, you are sometimes shaking before you go on the pitch.

"Sometimes I get nervous and I show it with my hands or by screaming on the pitch, but sometimes it`s the other way around.

"I know until now what I have done and I know that I can do a lot more. Sometimes I get frustrated with myself because, in some games, I haven`t shown my 100 per cent.'

I fully agree with his assessment of himself - his nervousness was clear all season but the disproportionate criticism he received was quite ridiculous. A regular theme was his perceived lack of concern for the fortunes of the team and his sub-standard work ethic.

"I know people sometimes say that I don`t mind what happens but, trust me, I feel it very hard and if I don`t play well, I go home and just think about being better the next time."

A league winner's medal is the best confidence boost he can get... and hopefully, he'll be a Champions League winner by next Thursday.

Yeah, the Bulgarian has largely been a passenger in his first season. He isn't a patch on Tevez for commitment and running. Just sell Tevez to your friends over at Eastlands and then you'll be able to give Berbatov more games.
