'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Vidic Wins The Double

Nemanja Vidic has been voted both Fans' Player of the Season and Players' Player of the Season at Manchester United's Awards Night. The Goal of the Season award went to Cristiano Ronaldo, for his incredible rocket against Porto.

'I'm honoured,' Vidic said.

'Throughout my career, I did not get many personal awards so that's because my speech here is not the best! But maybe next time I'll be better prepared.'

He also talked about his love for the club: 'Since I've come here three and a half seasons ago, I've made progress every year. I feel good when going into training, I like to be with the staff and the players - I'm very happy here.'

Ronaldo was his typically modest (hint: I might be a little sarcastic here) self after being presented with the Goal of the Season award.

'It was a fantastic goal,' he admitted after watching his 40-yard rocket against Porto on the big screen.

'It was special for me because I'm Portuguese and I always like to score against Porto. But the most important was that it brought three points.'

Which, strictly speaking, is not true as no points were awarded for it, barely a semi-final place in the Champions League was at stake. And talking about semi-finals, Ronaldo asked whether his goal at the Emirates, which came about after the poll got closed, should have been included.

'Which one?' was his immediate and predictable reply... well, it was his second of the night which deserves more accolades even though that was less special on an individual level but it was undoubtedly the best team goal we scored all season.

Congratulations to all the winners!

No surprises here really. The only surprise I got was when he did not get the footballer of the year by the FWA and the PFA footballer of the year which ofcourse giggs won.I just hope that when the world footballer of the year is considered,Vidic surely should get a look in.He has by far been the best player and by getting these awards atleast some sort of justice has been done.Well done mate,u surely deserve it.
