Rio Ferdinand cannot tell whether this Manchester United side is the greatest ever. No surprise about that, but I'd take issue with something he added to this!

'I'll only be able to tell you after the final whether we are the best United team or not,' he said.

That's obvious. Winning a second consecutive double would clear up any doubts in my opinion but that's still a long way to go.

'We haven't won anything this season.

'If we don't win the league and Champions League went belly up then we wouldn't be talked about as a successful side, let alone the best one, so we still have a lot to play for.'


Anything? While I agree that the League Cup and the World Club Championship are not the most prestigious of trophies, we had to fight for both and won both. It's not as if any of the two were simply presented to us...

We wouldn't be talked about as a successful side? Rio, this side, with you as captain for the best part of the season, has already won the Champions League and the Premier League. It will be remembered as one of the great United sides, whatever might happen in the next three weeks.

sorry guys but a cup you didnt care about a few years back and a mini tournament in Asia are hardly what you should be aiming for. Rio is talking about the big stuff... if you dont win Champs league and Premier league then your season (by your expectations) will have been a failure.

He probabaly meant that you did not win anything deservedly. You were lucky as hell in the League cup and you found it hard against a Mexican side scrapping home 1-0
