Eight Hundred Games... The Last Was Cruel In A Way

So, the big milestone has come at last. A week after Paul Scholes celebrated his 600th appearance in a red shirt, Ryan Giggs played his 800th game for United. Scholes produced a delightful pass in his own landmark game and Carrick sealed the win from it. Giggs, however, was denied a moment of same significance.

He came close to it though. He was put through by an excellent ball from Rooney, rounded Almunia and scored - only to see the linesman flagging on the far side. A very, very questionable decision: he looked onside to me...

And his old colleague Mikael Silvestre couldn't quite make the most of Giggs' dangerous cross: he headed it away from his own goalkeeper who came out to punch it away before Berbatov gets a header but despite Silvestre's intervention, the ball did not end up in the net. Shame, with a little more luck Giggs could have had his big moment!

But in the end it was a quiet 800th appearance for the Welsh Wizard. Maybe when he'll reach 900...
