Benitez Can't Stop Talking About United!
Liverpool drew 4-4 with Arsenal which result dealt a severe blow to their title hopes. Does Benitez talk about their pathetic defending? Does he talk about his goalkeeper's wretched form? No, he ends up talking about Manchester United - AGAIN!
This time at least he did not write down all the nonsense he was about to spout: he learnt it by heart for this occasion, it seems.
'I'm not having a battle of words with Alex Ferguson, but I believe that he can see that we are the better side, and that we are very close to United.'
Well, it's certainly not a battle of words: Benitez is pathetically trying to rile Fergie who dismissed his ramblings every time. Better side? Three points behind with United having a game in hand indicate otherwise - the fact is that Liverpool could not make advantage of our most wretched form of the last three seasons. They are not better by any means.
'He has been accustomed to playing these types of mind games for many years.
'Nobody has ever said anything against him, or stood up to him, as he has a very good team that can win trophies.
'It seems like he has a licence to do these sorts of things.'
Ever heard of an Arsene Wenger or Jose Mourinho? It's getting more and more embarassing for Rafa. I just hope he can pull himself together in time before he would start launcing attacks on our kit man and on the tea lady as well.

This tops it all, honestly. What was he doing in the last few weeks, apart from talking? Didn't work on defending, that's sure. And yeah, insulting other managers is the best way to defend his own team. Oh dear, how sad he is. And they still have a chance to win the league! Imagine if they blow it - I'll be interested in what he'll have to say.
On second thoughts, no, I won't be. We all can guess it.

You lot are so one eyed. So SAF hasn't been having a pop at Benitez at every given opportunity? Why did he get involved in that nonsense about the fat walrus or Everton being a small club??

Funny thing is, United have the best squad they've ever had at the moment in terms of individual ability; yet through injuries, suspensions and playing so many games we've actually had one of the worst seasons (not in terms of results obviously!) that we've had for a while. Yet, Liverpool, who have had their best season ever in the premier league are still worse than us. Even though us and chelsea gave them an extra 12 points!!
Mark my words, next season United, Chelsea and Arsenal will be MUCH stronger. Barring some outrageously good signings - I fail to see where liverpool can improve - apart from torres who has missed loads of games. But should they have anything near the amount of injuries the other 3 have had this season, they will struggle.

Tuscan, what key players have Utd had missing for a long period of time? Ronaldo for a few games at the start, and a few to Gary Neville (I'd say your a better team with him out) Ferdinand is your only key player to miss numerous games really. We have had Torres and Stevie unable to be paired together for the majority of games. We also had Masch at the Olympics this season and half our squad went all the way to the final of Euro 2008, thats 2 years without a break. So please do check the facts before having a pop.

Apart from that, I totally agree with what Rafa says...Fergie gets to talk and get away with it. And rightly so...he's done so much for English football, and should be considered a coaching guru. He's proved himself so many times that he should be allowed to express himself! What has Rafa done except winning a Champions league by mistake, and coming in 3rd a few times? Even Jose talks less than him... And he was more entertaining aswell.

I admit, we haven't (in terms of performances) played consistently well this season, as well as missing games for Carling Cup final, Club World Cup and Super Cup (as well as going further in Carling and FA Cup so playing far more matches), so why, if they are so good, haven't Liverpool taken advantage? Liverpool have a team that can beat anyone on the day, but the league is about winning as many games as possible, not just against the big four. With us having the disadvantage of having played at least one game less from a very early stage, Liverpool (and Chelsea/Arsenal) should have made that count and put pressure on us by opening up a big lead. I worried by the time we got back from the World Cup, we'd have an unassailable defecit, but instead it seems to have gone so smoothly. Does not the fact that we can lose to Liverpool and Fulham in consecutive games, and still have a three point lead with a game in hand, having not played that well (certainly recently) tell you something?
