United Will Be Without Key Players Against Everton

Wayne Rooney is reportedly desperate to play against his old club in the FA Cup semi-final tomorrow but he won't get the chance, not least because he's nursing a minor injury at the moment.

"When I pick my team, no matter what it is there will be critics voicing a concern about me not playing my strongest team," Fergie admitted.

"Not everyone agrees with changes. There are some supporters who want me to play my best team every game.

"That is impossible. If you look at Wednesday`s game you are off your head to think I could play the same team again."

Well, nothing surprising. There will be the usual voices about United's perceived lack of respect shown towards the FA Cup but then if we win there will be moans that the Big Four are dominating the cup... so doesn't matter.

Reports say that Van der Sar, Berbatov, Rooney, Ronaldo, Ferdinand and Anderson are all expected to miss the game... It will be an interesting line-up I expect. Something like this:

Foster - Brown (oh yes, he's set to return), Evans, Vidic, O'Shea - Park, Scholes, Gibson, Nani - Tevez, Welbeck or Macheda

Looks fun, doesn't it?

I emailed you a few questions last night, just wondered if you could possibly answer them before tomorrow? I'd be happy to return the favour.

I would just want to see rio there along side vidic,no disrespect to evans I like him a lot and its just wonderful to see the way he has blossemed but this is a one off game and even one mistake can cost us the cup.So although I can see where Sir Alex is coming from when he talks about refreshing the team we shouldn't make too many changes as we are up against a quality opposition.

I hope rio stays....cuz unless he is still suffering from some sort of minor injury we needed him back for a while and if anything vidic could use the break... disapointing to see anderson not there he was terrific against porto....hope to see macheda and welback playing....tevez i think realizes that his future is no longer going to be in manchester and although he does all the running he does on the pitch his heart don't seem in it no more....sad to see i hope we win, but everton have always been a tough team to beat for us, it will be a difficult match and the kids have to be in top form to beat them

Well done to the young lads, they held their own for the whole game. This is why the clean sweep is almost impossible. The team were good enough today but the ref cracked under the pressure when it counted. Well done to everton.

and congrats to the toffees.....it was always impossible to win the quintuple but if any team could have pulled it off it would have been this united team...though the injuries have taken their toll on our players...a fit berba could have been much more lethal...

ibrahiy - you can't blaim the referee - but your youngsters looked VERY good. I would be pleased if they were our first team, and most of them don't even make your normal squad!

the players (jagielka) DID touch each other - but, football IS a contact sport, there was a clip from the angle the ref had, and you couldn't see the contact from that angle - and any contact there was was minimal, and anywhwhere else on the pitch, and it would have been laughed off... well, thats my opinion anyway...
