The Portuguese Think United Are The Better Team!

The Portuguese Think United Are The Better Team!

OK, Cristiano Ronaldo and Jose Mourinho think so - but they both believe that Manchester United will go through on Wednesday night, despite the disappointing 2-2 draw at Old Trafford.

'When the draw was made I wanted Porto. I think we have a better team than Porto but we have to respect them because they are the best team in Portugal at the moment.

'They have a great coach, some outstanding players but we have to show over the two legs we are better,'
Ronaldo said and added that he was happy in Manchester so it's no need to scrutinize his body language all the time.

Porto's former manager, the seemingly not so special Mourinho continued his charm offensive and claims United will go through.

'How many times have United broken records or beaten the odds?

'Sir Alex Ferguson is an expert at it, and they have the quality to go and win anywhere in the world.'

'Wayne Rooney is the boy Porto need to contain. He plays with no fear, and anybody who plays with no fear will neverbeconcerned with how important the occasion is.

'Rooney is a big-game player. The crowd at Porto won'tmakeit easy for United, but the mentality of Rooney is to just play football and not be worried about anything else.'

Well, I'd say he's just fighting to remain in the front line of the potential successors of Sir Alex but his words about Rooney somewhat softened my cynical heart. Clearly it looks like he knows a thing or two about this managerial business!

For one of the first times ever, i found myself nodding to what Jose said. His stuff on Rooney was spot on. I just hope it wasn't a crafty ploy to make sure Porto try to annoy and irritate Wayne Rooney. But I'm hopeful - Jose's just moved up a level
