Fletcher: Porto Were One Of The Best Opponents

Darren Fletcher has had a fine season; indeed, at times he and Carrick held together a midfield which desperately miss Hargreaves all season. And with Anderson injured and in a slump and age catching up with Scholes he will have a very important role in the coming weeks.

Fletch believes that United will find their way back from this slump we're in, especially as we still have the chance of winning all trophies in front of us.

'You can't have an entire season where things go smoothly all the time. There are spells when you have a dip in form.

"At the end of the season, you look back and you usually find you win what you deserve to win. We know it's not plainsailing all the time.

"We need to get back to the old United of not conceding goals. Our experience will help us get back on the right track.'

He added that now at least their task is clear: United have to win at Porto, as simple as that. He is less certain about what tactics the Portuguese team will adapt.

'Do they sit and try and hold out for a 0-0 or 1-1 to go through, or do they play like they did at Old Trafford? It will be an interesting one. But we are not going to go there cavalier, even though we have to win the match, because they are a dangerous side on the counter-attack.

"The front three players were excellent, one of the best sides to have come to Old Trafford this season.'

True, denno4, we weren't very good (with the exception of Wayne Rooney who I thought was brilliant) but in our current form, and on the basis of the game, 2-2 was okay. True we have a very uphill task; my only positive is that we know what we have to do - we have to win, which is how United play best. Needing just a draw can be dangerous - you don't know whether to attack and be left open at the back, or defend but if you go behind have to change it all. At least we know what we have to do; whether we can do it is a different matter.

A bit of both for me.You look at lisandro's form and that tells u how well he has done in the champions league. There are other players too who have done well for porto.I won't be surprised to see many clubs raiding porto this summer. However there is no denying that our poor form contributed in making them look good.
