Rooney Doubt For Saturday... Full Squad's A Dream

Only yesterday I was lamenting the fact that our defenders keep being struck down with frustrating injuries at crucial parts of the season. Of course midfielders are not immune to the curse (Anderson, Hargreaves) and it seems our strikers have a knack of choosing the worst possible time to get injured.

Dimitar Berbatov might be back for the Porto game but certainly no sooner and now it looks like Wayne Rooney will miss Saturday's visit to Sunderland. The striker left Old Trafford in pain after a blow to the ribs and he'll have to be assessed carefully before the league game at Sunderland.

I don't need to stress how absolutely vital it is to win at Sunderland... and now we face the prospect of having to do this with EIGHT first-team players missing. Including the one who is in the best form of all our players...

A full, injury-free squad is such a distant dream that I begin to forget what it was like...

Just don't get down about it all mate, we are in a GOOD position and the depth of our squad is about to be tested. I seem to remember feeling very positive about our fringe and young players a few months ago, we havent Bendtner'd it yet!

This could be the 2006/07 end of season all over again, if these injuried continue. But the most worrying absence would be Rooney; we need him to have any chance this season. I think though that he will be fit (I hope so certainly) and he'll certainly want to play if there's any chance whatsoever.
