Antonio Valencia Instead Of Cristiano Ronaldo?

Antonio Valencia Instead Of Cristiano Ronaldo?

Papers claim that United are certain to sign Wigan winger Antonio Valencia in the summer. The pacy player excelled at Old Trafford in January and has been linked with United since a long time. Steve Bruce had admitted earlier that the lure of United would be too great for his players.

Even though Ronaldo stated more often that not that he wished to stay at United next season, I'm not convinced. After all, in Moscow he vowed to stay put then spent the summer trying to engineer a move to Real Madrid. It would not be a surprise if he left this season, especially as his influence has been reduced and it looks like Fergie is preparing the team for life without him.

However, is Fergie sure that Valencia is an adequate replacement? The rumours linking us with David Silva and Franck Ribéry were much more reassuring... of course we haven't yet signed Valencia and haven't yet sold Ronaldo so it's all hypothetical... But remote it may be, the idea of replacing Cristiano Ronaldo with Antonio Valencia makes me slightly uncomfortable.

Hmm, Valencia could be a replacement for Nani, as well. No one knows..

Valencia (if true and its a big if) would be a replacement for nobody. We have overplayed Ronaldo and Park this season because Giggs has been moved to the middle, Nani has not been good enough and Tosic is still young and unproven. We need a new winger regardless If Fergie ever decides to sell Cristiano Ronaldo (and if he didn't last summer he probably won't for as long as he is manager), he will be spending more than 5 million on the replacement!

Also, SAF hinted that he would have liked to use Ronaldo as a floating striker more this season

Don't worry MUFC, Valencia's going to cost you a hell of a lot more than 5 million... it's either 5m plus a player or in the region of 18 million if you're just paying cash. Also with regards to the article, don't judge a player by his shirt. Valencia is an outstanding young creative winger, and while he's no Ronaldo, he's more than worthy of wearing a Man U kit.

wouldn't be surprised to see ronaldo signing a new contract with utd, football is full of surprises and utd is one of the strongest teams in the strongest league of all and as he won't be staying in england anywhere else would be a step down atleast in the current situation. So once again ronnie think wisely.
