'If It's Football, It's Vital'

At Least Fergie Was Graceful In Defeat

United threw the game away against Liverpool after going in front with a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty. Sir Alex Ferguson admitted the visitors deserved to win because the capitalised on United's dreadful mistakes.

'It`s difficult to defend a 4-1 defeat. We got in front and then threw the game away. It`s a hard one to take. But at this club it`s always about how you respond. When you lose a game: respond. And that is what we will do."

"Nemanja has been unbelievably consistent for us this season. Players do have off days, and he`s made a mistake. He`s a human being, all players make mistakes. It`s just a costly one for us."

Fergie added that he could have no complaints about the red card Vida received: we would have been looking for a red card it was against us, he admitted.

"But if the league was starting today, you`d take a four-point advantage with a game in hand. The goal difference is narrowed, it`s only five goals now. It was a bad day, but we have to kick on.'

That's perfectly true but. Let's imagine a scenario when Liverpool desperately want to LOSE at Old Trafford. It's surreal all right but yesterday they would have won even if they had wanted to lose. And that's the most horrible. We have beaten ourselves AGAIN.

I'm still hoping we'll get Liverpool in the European Cup.

Saying that the better team lost isn't being graceful in defeat, quite the opposite.

Where is the grace in that? Sir Rudolph hasn't said that the right team won, he hasn't even praised us he has said that mistakes costs ManU and you threw the match away, hardly grace from where I'm sitting. Didn't he also say that the better team had in actual fact lost!

Hang on - he is laughably ssaying that United were the better team!!! how is that being gracious? he doesnt know the meaning of the word. Thats like Big Sam coming out and saying he thought that Blackburn were the better side against the Gunners yesterday!

In the full article he did give credit to liverpool for their win then went on to talk about vidic...those lines are not on here for whatever reason...... I agree with the gaffer...and we as fans need to put this painful memory behind and focus on the next game as for me I would love to see us vs liverpool in the final of champions league....that would be a dream final

"We have beaten ourselves AGAIN." If you think back, it was actually us who beat you. Very gracious, the better team lost even though they couldn't score from open play, well done Sir Purple Face

Saying the team that lost 4-1 was the better side, refusing to talk to the press afterwards. Graceful in the extreme. Altogether now, Fergie's cracking up....
