Scientific preparation has become a part of modern football: people now reckon it's absolutely elementary to create a compilation of penalties taken by the opposing team's players before cup games, to analyze their habits in case the game comes to a shootout.
But United's frontrunner for the Player of the Year award believes that a more simplistic approach to football is often more beneficiary.
'I don't really study statistics of our upcoming opponents,` Nemanja Vidic told Inside United.
'There is too much talk about shots on target and things like that.
'Sometimes it can be about luck, other times we do the job well. The main thing is that we win games and win trophies. Then we can be proud of what we have done at the end of each season.`
So you can bet that Vidic won't spend his days making notes about Bobby Zamora's runs and Zlatan Ibrahimovic's favourite shooting angles. After all, there are coaches and a manager to do this...
