Taylor's Attitude Towards Ronaldo Is Nothing New

Yet another mediocre nutter set about to assault Ronaldo, yet again he escaped without adequate punishment. Only God (and Steven Bennett) knows how he could stay on the pitch yesterday night after punching Ronaldo in the face then clattering into Michael Carrick. But he was only yellow-carded for it.

The papers report that afterwards there was an altercation between either Ronaldo and Taylor or Rooney and Taylor - it's unclear exactly which of our players was involved but I'd hazard a guess at Rooney. Apparently, the United player told Taylor that 'you've always been a shite footballer' who responded that 'at least I'm not ugly, you'll always be ugly'. I somehow don't think he would have answered this to Ronaldo though it's fair to say judging the beauty of males is not an area at which I'm an expert.

But the point is that Taylor should have never reappeared for the second half. Yet he got away because he did it to Ronaldo. It was an act of obviously deliberate violence and I assume he felt it legimitate as the victim was Ronaldo, who is always criticised about diving and theatrics by such manly players as Luka Modric.

It's in the air in England that assaulting Ronaldo is not really against the rules, it's something to be praised. There's little criticism of Steven Taylor in the papers and among the fans yet on Sunday everyone focused on Ronaldo for his 'theatrics' instead of berating a referee for getting a simple decision badly wrong. He should have had a penalty that day and Taylor should have been sent off yesterday. The referee failed to make the correct decision in either case because the victim was Cristiano Ronaldo.

Fergie often says that Ronaldo needs protection. No, only the rules should be upheld. He was dismissed by Bennett without hesitation when he apparently headbutted Muntari last season at Fratton Park and he was dismissed by the same Bennett when he mistimed a sliding tackle on Andy Cole in the Manchester derby in 2006. And Ronaldo was sent off at the Eastlands this season as well after handling the ball and he had to be sent off for violating the rules. But this should apply to those who kick and punch him, especially if they do it right in front of the linesman...

Joking aside if Ronaldo is being delberately kicked then the opponent should be sent off, but then he hasn't been booked for all the diving he's done in the past so I guess in a way it evens itself up.

Surely you agree that Ronaldo should have been red carded for kick outs at Dawson, Wilkinson, Dunn, after all, that's upholding the rules.

Can I just point out that if Ronaldo was not so completely and utterly arrogant and dislikeable (that's my POLITE opinion) then he would not have the problems he does with other players. The Henry's, Messi's and Kaka's of this world don't get kicked around because they are not scumbag MUM's like Christine. Simple really.

This article conveys my thoughts exactly(this is my first post) yes ronaldo did it abit over theatrically...but only cuz he has too...cuz unless he screams as loud as he did then the refs would have not called a thing...or maybe even given hima yellow for diving Before you say someone like ronaldo should count his blessings as he should have been red carded for previous incidents...well i say those previous incidents would not have happened if the refs protected him by following the rules in first place

Ronaldo has continued to benefit from refereeing decisions, he shouldn't even have been playing against Newcastle as he should have been serving a suspension after Blackburn.

I did ibrahiy. I just don't subscribe to the idea that Ronaldo should be able to kick out at players because of some self imposed idea of no protection. He is a cheat, pure and simple. In the future he will not get decisions because he has bought so many in the past, dishonestly. This is regardless of him letting out girly squeals anytime he is touched. Defend this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vy9RmR4RqXY

hey I never said the guy didn't do mistakes....in this case he expected to get hit so he didn't dive(as i assure you he could have made it seem like a real bad foul...when there was none) not all players like the english physical style....players like him mesi...etc... are more used to avoiding the tackle....than taking one for the team however with that being said he did dive many times...and i can't defend that however if the refs give him a yellow for the dive...he won't need his coach to remind him not to dive... it all goes down to refs....in my opinion...which i'm sure you will disagree also don't forget the leagues which Tevez and ronaldo came from where the dive is aceptable

Gerrard is the biggest ******* cheat I've ever see but he's English so who cares!?? I can show you a very nice compilation video of Gerrad's dives! People seem to think Ronaldo goes down very easily but he's always a target with defenders! If you always had two, three players on you everytime, it takes very little to go down! Also, at the pace that Ronaldo runs with ball, it takes very little to take him down. This is just common physics - the faster you run, the easier you fall. Anyone can try it!
