Fergie Is Unfair With Carling Cup Hero

Fergie Is Unfair With Carling Cup Hero

Despite an excellent performance at Wembley, Ben Foster will be among the substitutes or in the stands as United take on Newcastle tomorrow night. Edwin van der Sar, still on course for an even more staggering record, will regain his place between the posts.

'Edwin will play,' Sir Alex said.

'After watching Ben's performance on Sunday, it seems almost unfair. But the future is Ben's and in the end there'll be a competition between him and Tomasz Kuszczak when Edwin hangs his gloves up.'

To me that competition looks a little bit lopsided: Foster has so much more natural talent. I'm not sure that he'll ever become a number one at United but I'm fairly certain that Kuszczak will never be.

True, especially if that no1 happens to be fantastically consistent, yesterday's error apart.
