Carrick As Centre-Back? Oh Dear

United's injury situation at the back is desperate again: Wes Brown and Gary Neville are out of Tuesday's game at Inter Milan while both John O'Shea and Jonny Evans are very doubtful.

With Vidic suspended, it is beginning to look like that United do not have a complete back four available for the clash. Which means that it's possible that either Michael Carrick or Darren Fletcher will be drafted in to play centre-back.

Well, I'm drenched in cold sweat at the very thought. Carrick might even do a job there - but what kind of midfield shall we have then? Scholes is surely not up to three games in 6 days and his defending leaves a lot to be desired anyway. The Giggs-Fletcher pairing worked fantastically against Chelsea but this will be Mourinho's Inter at the San Siro which is another prospect altogether.

A nice way, though, to keep your mind off the problems is watching the 2007/08 season review. I can only recommend it to everyone: it never gets boring to see United becoming English and European Champions!

I can only hope either a) our attack is brilliant so defence doesn't matter b) we hang on for a good result c) we play like we did against Barca with fantastic team spirit. But the defence looks worrying

Fergie promised we'd look to attack and play for a win - but he had promised that before the visit at the Nou Camp. I think we'll be hanging on grimly as long as they don't score.

Well, I think you guys will go for a draw. Really, that is the best thing you can expect at the San Siro leg..
