Sir Alex Didn't Sink To The FA's Level

There was a very dubious-looking claim in the S*n (Liverpool fans' campaign of ignoring it has my full support, if I'm honest) that Danny Welbeck was 'demoted' to the reserves for celebrating his fantastic goal at Derby too arrogantly.

"One newspaper said Danny was disciplined for his goal celebration at Derby," Sir Alex told MUTV. "That`s absolute nonsense."

"Danny needed football. He came on against Derby and now he`s got a full game against Wigan's Reserves, where he scored two goals. He`ll be available for the Carling Cup final."

In all honesty, the claim was a great insult, it actually cast doubts over Fergie's integrity: the paper basically claimed that he's no different to the FA who of course set the precedent when they punished Gary Neville for daring to celebrate a last-minute goal against Liverpool.

Fergie would need to try harder than he ever did if he wanted to sink to their level...
