Rooney Will Be Involved Against Fulham

Wayne Rooney will be involved against Fulham tomorrow night, Sir Alex Ferguson revealed. Wayne was in great form when he sustained a hamstring injury against Fulham and he's not featured ever since.

'The plan is for Wayne to be involved and he will start on the bench,' Sir Alex told Key103. 'We have handled him in the right way.'

'It was a good decision
[to leave him out of the game at Derby] because he was able to train and that extra day has brought him on a lot. He is training well. His performances have been excellent and he is back to his best.'

Which, in theory, means that he'll be able to start at the San Siro. A huge boost to our hopes - with Vidic out because of his ban the last thing we needed was having to cope without Rooney was well.

Fulham have an awful away record; we have the best home record in the league. They score very, very few away from home; we haven't conceded in 13 league games and scored at least one goal in every home game of the season. So on paper this Fulham game tonight should be easy...

Agreed; we must be up for it. But if United score first it's almost over.

This game has an uneasy feel to it, which I can't explain. I just worry it's not going to go as we hope tonight. I sincerely hope i am wrong

Good news is Rooney will be involved, and since we played well in his absense, he didn't need to be rushed back, and he had the time to properly recover (which I believe he doesn't often as he wants to get back asap, understandably). I hope his presence lifts the team and we start scoring like United do

The most important thing is to have Rooney fit to start at Inter Milan. Tonight's game will have to be negotiated without him if necessary.

Rooney is so important to our team; he is often underrated as people think Ronaldo is the one who makes us click. But it's no coincidence the amount of times we lost last season when he was missing. This time around, we've been terrific without him (largely down to the brilliance of the defence) but the team isn't the same without him, and in his absense, sooner or later we would have slipped up. I feel so much more confident now he's back. And now he's started scoring well in the Champions League after that long drought, he will be vital to our hopes of at least getting an away goal at Inter.

Rooney played very well in all six games we played against Roma recently and scored important goals. IMHO he was the best United player over the two legs of that forgettable semi-final against AC Milan - my point is that it seems he tends to do well against Italian teams...
