Bruce - Another Step To The Sack

Steve Bruce took another hammering in a horror week, but it is comments about his chairman that will have the firing squad cocking their guns.

The Blues remain third-bottom, three points behind West Brom, and Bruce admits his side are now in a three-pronged battle (Portsmouth included) knowing only one will survive.

Bruce: 'Maybe there is method in his madness but I did not like my owner's comments. Where I come from, in situations like that, you baton down the hatches, say nothing and come out fighting.

'Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I did not agree with his comments.

'It looks like it is one from three now. We have to hope it is us.

'My players have been rightly hammered from pillar to post this week but at least they rolled their sleeves up and didn't collapse after that dreadful start.'
