'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Evans Set To Become World Class, Says Superstar

A truly legendary defender predicts that a defender will become world-class. It's worth listening to his advice, isn't it? Especially if this legend happens to be David May!

He is actually one of English football's most decorated players yet his most memorable contribution is celebrating wildly at the Nou Camp - on a day when he was an unused substitute at the end of a campaign in which he barely featured!

But he's still got more medals than Shearer and his opinion is much more interesting than Shearer's. He Who Was Most Prominent On Every Nou Camp Team Photo predicts that Jonny Evans will become a brilliant defender.

"He`s going to be a belting player. I know he has a long way to go but Jonny is on his way to being a world class defender.

"He`s shown a level of maturity that outweighs his age and I thought he was outstanding against Chelsea at Old Trafford. He`s a great credit to himself but credit must also go to the manager in placing his trust in him.

"His range of passing is generally excellent and I actually think he`s similar to Paul McGrath - he reads the game very well and he`s quick. He`s also got characteristics of Rio and Vidic. He`s laidback on the ball, doesn`t panic and is not afraid of getting hurt.

"He seems like a really good lad as well. It was brilliant when Vidic scored the first goal against Chelsea, you could see the enthusiasm and what it means for Jonny to play for United.

"He was all over Vidic`s back and showing his fist to the crowd. He was absolutely loving it and it was great to see that."

Definitely. Hope the Great Man's got it right once more!

David May? I'm assuming the 'legendary' status of this article is sarcastic. Despite my limited knowledge of the player, I heard he was awful.
