Tosic Could Feature Against Derby - Sounds Good

Several papers reported that Sir Alex Ferguson is considering including Zoran Tosic in United's squad for tomorrow'S Carling Cup semi-final 2nd leg. The Serbian was not expected to make his debut until the end of February as Fergie was concerned about his physical state but he might have decided he's worth a try anyway.

I won't get my hopes up. Fergie usually remains cautious in these cases though Nemanja Vidic, arriving in a similar situation, was thrown in early enough in 2006. But for many reasons it would make sense to try Tosic.

First, he's said to be a brilliant crosser of the ball and our crossing has been... erm... abysmal of late. This is an exaggeration but no doubt that we need an improvement in that area. Second, Ronaldo needs a rest and Nani is in dreadful form, Giggs is no longer a wide player, Fletcher never was. So we are a bit short there. Third, and the most important, this is only the Carling Cup, we do not have much to lose.

The physical side of the Premier League is demanding, no doubt yet this is a Championship side we face and as a Serbian international Tosic is not an inexperienced lightweight little youngster. He should be able to cope reasonably well and could give us glimpses of what we can expect of him. All in all, it would be great to see him on the pitch tomorrow.
