'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Robson No Regrets Waving To Fans

Bryan Robson tried to deflect criticism of him by home fans over his decision to applaud the United supporters who had been chanting his name during the first half.

His acknowledgement of the cheers prompted boos from sections of the Albion fans, who are obviously putting pressure on the ex-United skipper.

Not only did he see his old side take three vital points to hinder his relegation fight, but he was told (despite his pleas to West Ham to field a strong side against Portsmouth) that Alan Pardew's boys were not up for the fight at Upton Park.

Robson: 'What am I supposed to do? Manchester United are my old club. I meant absolutely no disrespect to our club.

'Alan has his job to do and I cannot do anything about that. All I can concern myself with is getting our own results right.

'Portsmouth had some good fortune but they had to take advantage of that, which is what they did today and maybe if I had been in Alan's position, I would have done exactly the same.'
