Fergie Names Full-Strength Squad For CWC

Sir Alex Ferguson named the strongest possible squad for the Club World Championship or whatever it is called right now.

United will play one of Adelaide United [Australia], Waitakere United [New Zealand], or Gamba Osaka [Japan] in the semi-finals of the tournament which starts on December 11. Twenty-three players will travel to Japan where our first game will be on December 18. The final will be staged three days later, probably against Libertadores Copa winners LDU Quito of Ecuador though I'd say Mexican side Pachuca also have a chance.

Fergie had hinted earlier that he wouldn't name his strongest squad for the competition yet he did that - I can imagine that sponsors and FIFA bosses discreetly warned United that playing the fringe players would cost us dear. Still, at least Danny Welbeck is in the squad and hopefully will be given his chance to impress.

The squad:

oalkeepers: Van der Sar, Kuszczak, Foster.

Defenders: Neville, Evra, Ferdinand, Vidic, O'Shea, Evans, Rafael.

Midfielders: Ronaldo, Anderson, Giggs, Park, Carrick, Nani, Scholes, Fletcher, Gibson.

Strikers: Berbatov, Rooney, Tevez, Welbeck.
