Carling Cup Could Be A Hindrance For United

Fergie himself admitted a few days ago that if we beat Blackburn tomorrow at Old Trafford then we could end up with a severe fixture congestion. So, shouldn't we sacrifice this game?

The problem is that we already have a game in hand - Fulham home - and with the World Club Championship or whatever it is called coming up we'll have another one postponed. The days of the League Cup semis would have been ideal to play these fixtures but if we beat a struggling Blackburn...

Throw in a couple of FA Cup replays as well and we could face some absolutely punishing schedule, like the one that lost us the title in 1992, which Fergie himself cited. Is the Carling Cup really this important?

But I say, that's football. We'll play the kids, the fringe players and Tevez anyway. If they beat Blackburn's first team - and Ince should field his strongest line-up as a cup upset at Old Trafford would alleviate much of the gloom that settled on Ewood Park - then fair enough, the first-team players should be able to handle a little bit congestion.

And if we lose - well, we can't really lose, can we? Not having to play five games in nine days like in 1992 is only a triumph.

Playing football games against clubs who would like to beat you will always be a problem. but as long as you have players who can obviously dive or handle the ball and blame the referees and fans for obviouous red cards -- then you will be alright from your point of view. If the Carling Cup is a hindrance then maybe you should avoid it.

Man, you'll beat them, and get squeezed your balls out. Good luck! :)

i don't think the carling cup will be a hinderance 4 united because it gives the 2nd team games and a chance 2 prove 2 fergie that they can play 4 united
