Maradona Raises The Standards At United!

Diego Maradona visited Carrington to watch the United squad training for the game against Arsenal. Our players were simply awed and starstruck, according to Rio Ferdinand.

'We were like schoolkids around him, to be honest. He came and watched us train and I think the gaffer might like him to come down every day, the way it raised everyone's standards!'

'Everyone was trying to impress him. We were all clamouring to get pictures taken with him. It was nice to shake his hand. It made my day, actually. I hope he goes back to Argentina and tells people he saw a great player in Rio Ferdinand!'

Well, what a great piece of motivation just a day before an important game. Good training session >> good performance on the next day? Nah, it's not that simple. I hope for one thing: that the freshly-appointed Argentina coach's visit gave a much-needed lift to the spirits of one Carlos Tevez...
