Kissing The Badge At Goodison - Brilliant!

Wayne Rooney was brought off at Goodison Park because Sir Alex feared that Riley might send him off - and to be fair, he didn't play well.

However, he made on lasting contribution which was brilliant: kissing the badge in front of the incensed home crowd after being booked.

'I don't know why he was booked,' said Sir Alex.

'The crowd obviously got him booked but the way the referee was behaving, I feared he may be sent off. For no reason, of course, but just the way the crowd was reacting, getting him booked in the first place, I just felt I had to take him off.'

Yeah, there's something in that as he did not warrant a yellow. Some will argue that Rooney was silly to pledge his loyalty to United in front of 40,000 Evertonians - however, after all the abuse he got from them he was entitled to a response.

A goal, like in 2005 and 2007, would have been better but it is still a moment to treasure for us United fans. Rooney is now Red through and through and no abuse and stick can hide the fact that it did a world of good for him. Two Premier League titles and a Champions League crown tell the story in itself.

Pick and choose. Rooney kisses the badge of his employers, United draw against a struggling squad. If Chelsea win tomorrow and maintain their concentration, you could conceivably be out of the race before you know it. Maybe an article on how silly mistakes can cost you the title, as supposed to this ultimately trivial moment?

RadioactiveD, you're a REAL funny one when you lost TWO points AT HOME TO SPURS! Hahahahahahaha you're one to talk!

When did Everton lose 2 points at home to Spurs ? .. haven't played them yet ... All Rodney done at Goodison is show he can still be " got at " ... The Everton fans won this particular battle , Made even better by ronaldo's histrionics from an innocuous tackle from Phil Neville and then Ferdinand exhibiting his bad memory by forgetting he was playing in a football match and running 60 yards to wave his handbag at his former mate . ..... Loved it !!

9.5 for Ronaldo for rolling needs to get more practice to get 10, should have been booked for it.

yep kissing the badge was a awesome thing to do lol it got judas taken off lol he is really going to hurt Everton when he is sat on the bench isnt he just shows once again how pathetic judas is more concerned in playing mind games with the crowd than performing for his "beloveded" team game set and match to the Everton crowd i think

Fair point, ForeverUnited. And now Chelsea lose to Pool at home. The initial point I was making does however remain: drop points and they add up. I never said Chelsea were exempt from this rule. United have been largely sup-par this season by their high standards and this will catch up with them before too long. Chelsea had a great chance to widen the gap and failed. A weird weekend for football all around.

United and Rooney disappointed on Saturday, particuarly in the first half, but at least he is showing the passion in the right way: he didn't shout at the referee - he simply calmly made his point, or walked away. He seems to have grown up. But... a 100th goal back where he scored his first... oh, well. It was too perfectly set up to come to pass.
