Tevez Is Ready To Be A Squad Player - For Now...

Carlos Tevez will get plenty of playing time this season, Sir Alex Ferguson assured everyone. The Argentinian was once again only on the bench as United raced into a two-goal lead against Celtic. He came on and tried very hard for 30 minutes, supplying an assist to Rooney.

'He doesn't enjoy not playing, that's natural. But he came on and contributed in a big way,' Fergie said.

'He enjoyed his game, worked hard and didn't sulk about being on the bench. We're pleased to see that and he'll get plenty of games this season, there's no doubt about that.'

Yeah, Tevez is a top class chap with a great attitude. But the trouble is that he's a great player and won't be too happy sitting on the bench all season.

We'll play plenty of matches but it increasingly looks like that with Berbatov and Rooney at the club, Tevez's long term future is that of a squad player. Will he accept it? I don't know though if he's got a little patience then he could benefit tremendously from the likely departure of Ronaldo.

Oh, and there's an another argument in favour of handing Tevez a starting berth in the near future: he's trying way too hard to show his credentials. Fergie tries to show trust with words but for Tevez, only time, time on the field, will do it seems.

He won't stay as a "squad player" for long. He'll be off because he knows if he doesn't keep his profile high enough he will miss out on big opportunities. Also he hasn't been tied into a long-term contract yet. Someone will come knocking after Xmas, I think...

i think tevez WILL stay at united becuase fergie has faith in tevez and he scored some crucial goals in the premiership and in the champions league

i have to say its pretty gutting to think someone with that amount of talent is on the bench. thought the thing that matters most is the 3 points and we seem to be getting them with berby and rooney on. tevez will get his chance soon..dont bet on rooney to keep this scoring record up, hes hasnt before.
