Giggs Isn't A Winger Now? Who'd Have Thought!

Sir Alex has conceded that Ryan Giggs' days as a flying winger are over. Well, they were over two years ago...

'The days for Ryan at nearly 35 years of age to tramp up and down the touchline are gone. He can maybe do it the odd time but I think that's beyond him now.'

'All we have to do is manage it. He is looking absolutely brilliant just now but we want to have him nice and fresh at the end of the season because he can decide games for you. That's the great quality he has.'

True but is it worth it? I mean, Giggs is a highly skilled player, easily the most talented British player of his generation but do not we have enough attackers?

Things is, Giggs only adds to the selection headache of Fergie who is already trying to accomodate Berbatov, Tevez, Rooney and Ronaldo into the same team, with Anderson, Nani and Park all there to fight for places, not to mention Manucho and Welbeck...

Ryan was brilliant against Boro, true but he should be nothing more than a squad player, however cruel this may sound. Impact substitute? Yeah, that's the only way for him. And I don't think he's got another season in him after this current one...

Really nice that Fergie came out with this! He needs to play less! Let's give Nani and Park some more playing time to shine!

Sort've seems as though once he broke the appearance record, he was going to be a permanant bench fixture.

I think Giggs still has a big part to play for United; it's just with his age, Sir Alex is looking to preserve his energy.
