Bolton Game Will Show If Were 'Off And Running'

Ryan Giggs scored a fine goal in our 3-1 victory over Middlesbrough on Tuesday and is now ready to do more damage, with trips to Portsmouth, Liverpool and Chelsea out of the way.

'It was a tough start, there`s no doubting that,' he told MUTV.

'We didn`t play well at the beginning of the season, but over the last week or so - against Villarreal, and at Chelsea in the first half especially, then on Tuesday night - we`ve showed some really good stuff.

Yeah, that's true but results did not always testify that. And one nice win over Middlesbrough at Old Trafford does not mean we've awaken from our slumber: if another colourless display follows against Bolton then we are where we started off against Newcastle.

Hopefully it won't happen.

Yes, this Bolton game is going to be crucial in showing how we'll do this season. I thought we'd struggle with the start we had, but hopefully we're over it now. It's a bad run to start the season (exactly the same as last year - 1 win, 2 draws and a defeat) but I think at the end of the season, five points from Newcastle at home, and Portsmouth, Liverpool and Chelsea away is not a bad return. If they'd have come seperately, we'd have said fair enough. A good win against Bolton, preferably with Rooney and Berbatov getting off the mark, and we're up and running.

However, if we struggle against Bolton, I can really see us not doing anything of note this season. Chelsea, worryingly, are looking good; despite the draw against Stoke Liverpool are better equipped than in recent years; Arsenal have started well and if they don't tail off again will be a big threat.
