No Big Signings At United For Next Season

Carlos Tevez will sign a permanent deal next summer which is good news but also means we won't make any major signings.

"Ever since I first came here I would like to have signed a permanent contract," Tevez said.

"I had very happy season last year and I would be very pleased if a permanent contract was put in front of me. I`d sign it without any doubt."

He will get his wish next summer, according to Fergie.

"As I understand it, it will happen at the end of the season. There is no doubt in my mind that Carlos will be here next season and signing the contract."

That means parting with about Ł30M which is great money but money well spent in the case of Carlos Tevez. But it also means that no big signings will arrive - only if we sell Cristiano Ronaldo which looks likely.

I do not say it's a bad thing: this squad needs no big names, maybe only some backup players for the back four and perhaps a winger. I'm not fussed if no 'stars' come.

Meh don't really need any player to be honest. MAYBE a new keeper although hopefully Foster plays well. Otherwise I would like to see Ochoa. ALso if Hargreaves is constantly injured I'd like to see Veloso come in as well as Scholes getting up there in age.

“Are United turning into a bit of a joke? Ronaldo claims he wants to leave for a bigger club, all summer. He even said the same last week? What do United to? They send their manager over to Portugal to get on his knees and beg the greedy bloke to play for them, and then when he gets back , the fans are cheering him!? Sorry, United’s status as a super club is seriously on the wane. They are a 1 man team, and Ronaldo has pretty much proved that he is bigger than the club at the minute. He can do what he wants, and he knows that the club will come back offering him more money. Look at a real super club, Real Madrid. Robinho, one of their best players says he wants to go. Do they humiliate themselves, by begging him to stay? No, they force him out for the highest price. No one is bigger than the club after all. Ronaldo is bigger than Manchester Utd

Mark Hughes has quite a bit of spare cash. According to Guillem Balague he has a £300M transfer budget which he must spend over the next three years. He says it all here on the internet: http://www.guillembalague.com/rumores_desp.php?id=92 Why doesn't Sir Alex give Mark a ring? They are old pals after all. I was walking in the corridor at Eastlands the other day behind Mark and some Weslshman. I could have swore he said something like Sir Alex used to sub me often enough, maybe I should return the compliment. Get on the phone, now!
