Rumour coming from Old Trafford suggests Sir Alex is toying with the idea of bringing back Ruud van Nistelrooy to face Newcastle and dropping Wayne Rooney into midfield.

John O'Shea is sweating on his place and Rooney could fill his role in midfield.

Meanwhile, Quinton Fortune has returned to training after suffering only a minor knee injury in a reserve team outing at Middlesbrough in midweek.

a good idea, rooney can play well in midfield and this will give ruud more a bigger chance to show what he's made off.

If he was going to leave, he'd go to Italy or Spain - not prematurely end his career by joining Spurs!
