Ronaldo's Return Will Be Sooner Than Expected

As United look worryingly bereft of ideas and imagination in attack, it must be a boost that Ronaldo is set to return by the end of September.

'I am feeling fine,' he said in the News of the World.

'I am feeling really good and my recovery is going well.

'I am more than happy with my progress and I hope to be back playing for United by the end of September - that is my target and it is a realistic one.

'It has been frustrating to miss the start of the Premier League season, but I am pleased with my rehabilitation and, hopefully, I'll be ready soon.'

Hopefully in the meantime Nani won't be playing as he did against Zenit... then we'll have some proper width in attack, something we've been lacking so far this season. Also, it would be great if we had an alternative for Scholes - I hope against hope that Carrick and Anderson will start at Anfield.

Not too sure what impact Ronaldo will have when he returns. He's not likely to be match-fit, and I worry that some people might hope that everything will be all right when he returns (which it won't necessarily be). I don't think us struggling for form has much to do with the loss of Ronaldo, really - we've managed without him before. It's more that Rooney appears to be wandering through some games like he doesn't know what he's supposed to be doing, and some of our midfield players are struggling to make any sort of impact.
