Ronaldo Stays!

Alot has been written about Ronaldo this summmer. Too much in my opinion.

That is why I have taken the somewhat lazy stance to simply publish the latest quotes from Ronaldo in which he admits responsibility for the events of the summer, whilst also pledging his future to United...for next season at least.

Here are the key quotes that will be featured in tommorow's Publico:

'I will remain with Manchester United for at least another year...Before rumours emerge saying that I will play against my will, I want to make this clear - whoever says or writes that is lying. I will play for Manchester with all my heart and soul. I will fight and honour that shirt with the same commitment and dedication as always...I was responsible for all this controversy. I was the one who publicly expressed my desire to go to Real Madrid. I ended up being, even involuntarily, responsible for the poor relationship between the two clubs...I knew Real Madrid were interested in signing me and that they had allegedly made a very high offer to Manchester United. My desire was, for some time, that Manchester had accepted my transfer to Madrid. Saying otherwise would be to trick people and my own consciousness.'

Hmmmm...interesting; it will take a lot more to win me over, im not sure about other Reds. Feel free to discuss below.

Irrespective of his comments on his so-called new-found commitment; his actions are entirely responsible for the unrest and angst he has created with team mates and ManU's fans. His disruption to your pre-season planning have been there for all to see. Simply to let that be water under the bridge because he pledges to honour another year of his contract is in my book untenable. Even now, this so called 'commitment' is time-limited and is a insult to your club, frankly if I were a Man U fan I would be disgusted with his entirely unnecessary public posturing and give him the hard time that he unquestionably deserves for his very shabby conduct. If there is any good that comes from all this is that the chances are that old Rudolph the Red-nose, will now give up his alleged unethical tapping up and pursuit of Berbatov and get a dose of his own medicine from us!

Well on the upside at least we don't have to put up with this story every day any more. On the downside Ronaldo to Madrid 2 - The Sequal is already being lined up for next year I'm sure.

How people can hate him for wanting to play for Madrid, a club hes wanted to play for since he was 6, is beyond me. Its his life not yours

Well its good to hear he will give 100% still, thats all we can hope for he hasnt moped and whinned when we didnt sell him because he doesnt really mind being here at OT. i REALLY hope he doesnt get booed because he doesnt deserve it, no matter what he says he has been a huge part of our success in the last 2 years...he helped us become the best in england again

Once he scores a couple of goals, all will be forgotten. Just like after the World Cup. It made sense to sell him this summer though, come January it'll all rear it's ugly head again. The ultra stubborn red nosed one has just completed an exercise in face saving. You've now got a unhappy player in the team who, like Berbatov, will probably sulk his way to the next transfer window.

For me, Ronaldo has to do an awful lot to get him back on my side again. I still question his commitment, whatever he says, and he'll have to come up with something pretty special to make me believe he is really committed. If he's going to go at some point in the next year, it seems to me he might as well have gone now.

On the other hand in one more year the likes of Nani and Anderson will have stepped up more. I fully believe we will have missed him this season, whereas next season...

gunnerkid, i think he must have meant:'at most one more year'. forget da diva-diver, i'd be ashamed being a man u fan, period! but am still amazed that his own camp can diss him after delivering 40+ last season. like somebody posted earlier cryptically but aptly, if the 'traitor' is staying back you guys of all people should be happy! we have our differences over drogba and lampard and whoever - but we don't burn anybody at stake.

JCL - Perhaps you should take a look at some of the comments on Vital Chelsea after the Champions League final regarding Drogba and Anelka. As for Ronaldo, 100% agree with ManUtdChampions - this WILL NOT make up for what he has done and though I will not boo him, i certainly wont cheer his name like I once did. Ronaldo will NEVER be the Untd player I hoped he would be. He is obsessed by money and quite frankly im glad its all over, but stay or go, ive a hell of a lot of respect for the man...some of which can never be felt again.

u4l, on drogba/anelka comments, i suppose you should know best, given the amount of time you spend on VC. ;) just kidding mate... friendly banter :) on robinho, i know a lot of the guys back home are talking of him as the last piece in the puzzle. but am not overtly enthused. we can still get by very decently without him, thank you very much.

robinho is probably too fragile to handle the EPL. Great player though... I suppose he'd do some damage to teams, but not the player chelsky is looking for

Agree with alexpant, Robinho looks a decent player, but I'm not sure where exactly he'd fit in with Chelsea, or, indeed, whether they actually need him.

What should have been a summer of glory for you lot (after the double) turned out to be even worse than the Barry saga!! And Ronaldo was totally to blame for all of it, IMO his comments are a disgrace, you don't say 'well I will stay for at least 1 more year' if your going to commit then you just say something like 'I'm staying that is the end of it' he has treated AF and the club with so little respect that it wouldn't surprise me if a few of your players have a word with him.

Tiny T, no I will not forgive him all, and he is most certainly not a hero, unless we lose every game until he comes back, and then he scores all the games, and we win the quadruple or something ridiculous like that. He has treated United and Ferguson disgracefully, with zero respect, and he doesn't deserve any respect back. He will have to really knuckle down and just work hard and score loads of goals for a bit. And I hope he cuts out all that diving, (although to be fair he's a lot better) because he isn't getting any sympathy from me for one, that's for sure. If he wanted to leave, he might as well have just left, instead of coming back, putting in some probably uncommited displays, and then leaving next year anyway.
