Rossi Knocking On The Door

The emergence of Giuseppe Rossi adds an extra dimension to a Alex Ferguson's striking selection, but Fergie says it can be a dilemma he will have to face

Rossi has scored three hat-tricks in the reserve-team but has not had an opportunity at senior level since scoring twice in the FA Cup replay win over Burton Albion in January.

Ferguson: 'It is a difficult one because we know reserve-team football is not a proper test. Without question, if I didn't have the strikers I have, Giuseppe would have figured a lot more.

'He has had a few chances and done exceptionally well.
He has proved he has the temperament, proved he has the ability and proved he is top quality.

'What we need to figure out is what we should do in terms of his development.

'It is a difficult one because we have quite a few players out on loan but Giuseppe is such a goal threat if something happened to the strikers, we would need someone to come onto the bench who can get you a goal.

'That is the main reason why we have not allowed him to go.'
