This Henry Thing Can't Be Serious, Can It?
Reports suggest that United are lining up Thierry Henry as the alternative in the case we fail to get Dimitar Berbatov. I have to say this is one of the most breathtaking rumours of the summer.
I mean, if it were true I would have to say that Fergie is losing his marbles. However, I must instead declare that the world has entirely lost its marbles: they can't expect Fergie to go after an overrated, injury-prone 31-year old who is highly unpopular at Old Trafford?
Now, one's wondering if those who print such nonsense have any specific aim with it? They can't be serious, can they? They can't believe that Manchester United are going to sign Thierry Henry who now can't cope with the slower, calmer tempo of the Primera Liga, let alone the fast and furious Premier League - and who was totally, utterly anonymous against United in the semi-final of the Champions League?
OK, I know what you say. Fergie tried to sign Vieira. But at that time it was not obvious that Vieira was totally past it - as a holding midfielder he loses less with ageing than a striker. And the other thing is simply that he's a holding midfielder - and Fergie was desperate to land one at that time, and one he always had respect for.
I'm happy we did not get him as it allowed Carrick to prove the doubters wrong and I'm sure no United fan in their right mind regret that Vieira did not join us. And not one of them are keen to see Henry in the red shirt of United, that's equally certain. I hope.

I am sorry but i have a HUGE amount of respect for Henry, yes he played for our rivals and scored some hurtful goals against us lol but you have to realize talent and he has it without a doubt. There is no way this is true as the Barca's new manager said Henry will be his first choice striker and that henry will play in his favourite position (which wasnt the case last season)

Why just because he had one 'bad' season in La Liga is he all of a sudden not good enough for the Premier League? I'm sorry but he was amazing when he was hear, just sheer class, and you don't lose that. His game wasn't just about pace.

I grudgingly (as a yid) have respect for Henry as a player too and there aren't many sides in the world he doesn't improve, but United have to be one of those few, along with Real Madrid and Milan. Where does he play in and amongst Rooney Tevez and Ronaldo? Henry is mistaken for a target man or a centre forward because of the sheer number of goals he scores, but that's not what he is at all. I think he's only ever scored about 10 headers, but I can't remember 1! And I can probably count on 1 hand the number of goals I've seen him score from inside the 6 yard box. No centre-forward takes corners either, especially one with his height. He's a magical, elegant, special player, but he's not good enough in the air and imo the space he tends to occupy is not where he'd need to play to the benefit of United. Imo he's a winger that scores a vast number of goals, 8/10 from the same general region in the left channel. Berbatov would get a lot more out of your current attacking line-up than Henry could.

did henry really have a bad season at Barca? he initially struggled with injuries and barca didnt play to his strengths, but he still ended up as the leading scorer...

Henry would be a great player for you, but sir rednose will blow another gasket as he then can not claim that ManU have a youth team anymore.

Doubt it very much but you could do far worse! Great player but I don't think he'd come to another Premiership club after the time he spent at Arsenal.
