Alex Waits On Ruud

Sir Alex Ferguson will give Ruud van Nistelrooy a late fitness test prior to Monday's Premiership clash at Wigan.

The Dutchman has stomach complaint and he pulled out of Holland's midweek match with Ecuador.

You don't need me to tell you the striker was disappointed at being dropped for the Carling Cup final, but he is expected to return for the match that is being billed as 'Wigan's Revenge'.

But having lost 4-0 to United TWICE already this season, I don't think Alex's boys will be quaking in their boots.

Unlike Ruud ... one person who did make the field at Cardiff, Wigan goalkeeper John Filan ... will start a Premiership match for the first time since November 19.

Filan is back between the posts as Mike Pollitt is out for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury sustained early in last Sunday's Carling Cup final.




Wigan (from): Filan, Walsh, Chimbonda, Jackson, Baines, De Zeeuw, Henchoz, Teale, Bullard, Kavanagh, Thompson, McCulloch, Scharner, Johansson, Camara, Mellor, Francis, Mahon, Ziegler, Roberts.


Man Utd (from): Van der Sar, Howard, Neville, Brown, Ferdinand, Vidic, Silvestre, Evra, Park, Giggs, Fletcher, O'Shea, Ronaldo, Richardson, Rooney, Van Nistelrooy, Saha, Rossi.
