United Bid For Berbatov

United Bid For Berbatov

United, according to reports, are stepping up their interest for Dimitar Berbatov: we have reportedly tabled an offer of Ł20m for the Bulgarian striker.

United were linked with Berbatov several times and it is believed the player desires the move because the lure of Champions League football is too strong. Fergie is an admirer of Berbatov, that's no secret as he tried to sign him two years ago when he was still at Bayer Leverkusen.

According to the press, Berbatov cleared his locker at Spurs at the end of the season and haven't even expected to have to return for pre-season training. But the club is prepared to let him: Juande Ramos had admitted that he had no power to keep Berbatov as he's desperate to go.

Looks like Berbatov will be our major signing of the summer - more news to follow, if there will be any.

i thought the possibilty of signign him had gone so set sights onm huntelaar, but this news....if true, is very appealing. you gotta say the signign of berbativ would go a long way to boosting the morale of fans. but for now it is just specualtion.....

say there is a good chance he will be playing for u lot next season......but 20mil???? whiskey nose is having a laugh.....it will take 10-12 mil on top of that....the club have publically stated what it would take....spurs are not short of cash and dont need to sell.....if ronaldo is worth 70mil...then 20mil for berba is a joke.

lilly, i dont think anyone thinsk 20 million will be final. i would expect 25-27 million. but not over 30, lest we forget he IS 27 years old and anything above 30 million would be silly. dont get greedy lillywhites!!!

Maybe above £30m would be a little silly but without offering CL football we wouldn't be able to adequately replace him for much less then that so he's worth £30m for us. If you want him you'll have to stump up the cash simple as. That £25m-£27m would probably force a deal but press speculation is United see that as too much also

Wouldn't mind him going tbh. I'd much rather watch people giving 110% playing for the team, especially as we probably won't have too much trouble sticking the ball in the back of the net with Bent and Keane fed by Modric, GDS (and possibly Bently)

Gotta say as a spurs fan I'd be sorry to lose him even though he's been sulking since he was denied a move last year...when he tries he's as good as any striker in the world -I've seen a poll on another site where Manu fans place Hunterlaar or Benzama above him, what a joke they're unproven in the prem- Berba has done it there and at international and his pen against Chelsea was different class in the cc...if you take him we'd have to try and get someone like Huntelaar and take a punt...20m no way but I think you'd get him 25-27. Just wish he wanted to play for us.
