The Berbatov Bid

The Berbatov rumours are back. Spurs's 27-year-old Bulgarian striker is a hot property and United are believed to be favourites to sign him. However, there might be problems.

AC Milan allegedly want him, too but they look destined to fail as it had been revealed that he wants to play in the Champions League, a competition where the Rossoneri won't feature next season due to their fifth place finish in the league.

The biggest problem seems to be his price: latest rumours suggest Spurs want Ł25 million AND a player in exchange, and quite frankly that's ridiculous - unless the player in question is Dong, in which case the deal would be worth about Ł21m.

I'd be very surprised if Tottenham managed to keep Berbatov for another year but will he move to United? What do you think?

Meh... take him by all means. I'm sure Danchev (the bloke that haunts our site regularly, and not Berbatov's equally annoying agent!) will be championing this move as it means his idol will be getting his ego massaged by a whole new set of fans... just as long as you give us 35million for him (25m is for continental clubs only), then we'll be happy to do business.

Berbatov is good but he's also lazy and quite slow. I don't think we'll even bid for him. Of that I'm sure!

Benzema is not doing very well at the Euros. I dont doubt his talent for a minute, but hopefully being out of form for the Euro will drop his price maybe?? which will be even better

His first touch more than makes up for him being slow(er). Fergie can see class and he would work out a way to fit Berbs into united, but I can't see him matching the asking price unless Ronnie leaves. If this is the case, he will definitely sign Berbatov, which would cast Tevez's long term future into doubt.

Berba is a teriffic talent. He's not slow at all, but tends to use his skill as his pace is not electrifying. He would be the best imaginable addition to the manure line-up, if the goal is to have a player that will not only score, but also manage to drastically improve the effectiveness of Rooney and Tevez. While I'm not overly fussed about us losing him for the right price (only because his head has been turned and he seems non-commital), I think he would be absoltely perfect for you lot!

The above was without stating the obvious - that he already speaks English and has comfortably adapted to the league and your existing opposition.

whats the difference with Real Madrid and Ronaldo to your mob and berba? no difference, fergie is a hypocrite and been doing it for years.Glad he's getting a bit of his own medicine W**k*r! as for berba if you pay over the odds you will prob get him ,but it seems we have actually taken a leaf out of your managers book and want to sell him abroad so lower price for foreign teams. If he signs for you i see a bust up with fergie within 2yrs,he wouldn't even warm up for one of our managers ffs

lillywhites, you must be the only spurs fan i know that doenst rue the sale of carrick. he is an awesome player....is it any coincidence we have won 2 premier leagues and a champiosn league since he joined. he is first choice in our midfield, and his performances keep the likes of anderson, scholes and haregreaves battling for a place alongside him. so please, dont call him *****e, he is far from it.

With Ronaldo looking like he may leave then you need someone to score the goals. Berbatov will do that in abundance. I think you may have to switch Rooney out wide though to accomadate him and Tevez.

you are naive or just blinded by loyalty but fergie uses the press when it suits him and was the first to unsettle berba with his usual tactic of declare admiration(plant the idea in the players head),get the media rolling, then never confirm or deny etc blah blah, then when madrid use the same sort of tactics he can't take it.I really hope Ronaldo's head has been turned and he leaves for madrid(contracts don't mean nothing if the player wants to leave as fergie well knows) would be pure justice. What goes around comes around.

lilly whites ask yourself did beckham do anything worth while in spain? no he never the only highlight was the spainish league in his last season. as for van nistlerooy he was playing poor for us so we got rid of him. simple as. parklanebent if fergie used the press we would be getting in about 30 players this summer cause that is how many we been linked with. and why is some1 from a mediocre team like yours coming onto the double winners site?

not worth 25mil? This coming from the club who paid about 15mil too much for Rooney and are gonna pay twice what Tevez is worth to get him. Any club would be privilaged to have him, its just a shame that our privilages have run out.
