The Berbatov Bid

The Berbatov Bid

The Berbatov rumours are back. Spurs's 27-year-old Bulgarian striker is a hot property and United are believed to be favourites to sign him. However, there might be problems.

AC Milan allegedly want him, too but they look destined to fail as it had been revealed that he wants to play in the Champions League, a competition where the Rossoneri won't feature next season due to their fifth place finish in the league.

The biggest problem seems to be his price: latest rumours suggest Spurs want Ł25 million AND a player in exchange, and quite frankly that's ridiculous - unless the player in question is Dong, in which case the deal would be worth about Ł21m.

I'd be very surprised if Tottenham managed to keep Berbatov for another year but will he move to United? What do you think?

Meh... take him by all means. I'm sure Danchev (the bloke that haunts our site regularly, and not Berbatov's equally annoying agent!) will be championing this move as it means his idol will be getting his ego massaged by a whole new set of fans... just as long as you give us £35million for him (£25m is for continental clubs only), then we'll be happy to do business.

Berbatov is good but he's also lazy and quite slow. I don't think we'll even bid for him. Of that I'm sure!

I hope we get one of the other two, Santa Cruz or Benzema
15/06/2008 22:54:00
Benzema is not doing very well at the Euros. I dont doubt his talent for a minute, but hopefully being out of form for the Euro will drop his price maybe?? which will be even better

i was just looking at the poll on the right of the page...who'd want David Villa in the team (21%????) ????? We got to players identical to him! Do we really need a third one?
15/06/2008 23:09:00
To the fool who said Berbatov is slow... check your video library again mate! He is lazy but not at all slow!
15/06/2008 23:15:00
IMO its between berbatov and santa cruz.
15/06/2008 23:33:00
His first touch more than makes up for him being slow(er). Fergie can see class and he would work out a way to fit Berbs into united, but I can't see him matching the asking price unless Ronnie leaves. If this is the case, he will definitely sign Berbatov, which would cast Tevez's long term future into doubt.

Santa Cruz for me.Berbatov is brilliant on his day but which Berb would show up?
16/06/2008 00:35:00
what aload of S-H-I-T-E.......if he leaves, which im doubting with every day! will be abroad.......we dont mind selling u *****e like carrick for 19mil but berba is another story!.......what does it feel like to be madrid's feeder club???
