'If It's Football, It's Vital'

We Should Believe Fergie: Queiroz Deserves Praise

Sir Alex Ferguson believes Carlos Queiroz played a big part in getting the club to where it's now.

The boss revealed his number two worked very hard to prepare the players for Wednesday's showdown with Chelsea and that he deserves much praise for his contribution to winning the trophy.

'Carlos is well respected,' he said.

'His preparation for the game on Wednesday, from all aspects, was fantastic. There has been a lot of talk about him recently and I am sure the Portugal job would be a big attraction for him.

'But I feel he is at his club here. What happens after I go is not my domain. But there is no doubt I think Carlos will be here for a long time. As long as me anyway.'

Well, I was one of the frontrunners in slagging off Carlos when things were not going well so I should stress yet again that I was wrong.

If Fergie says that Queiroz is a vital contributor to our successes then he must be right - trophies vindicated him as much as his boss.

Hats off. He'll be a big part of us hanging on to Ronnie.Very tactically astute. We all love 4-4-2 but in modern day football it's about more than that.
