'If It's Football, It's Vital'

United v Chelsea - Player Ratings!

Edwin van der Sar: Confident throughout, he dealt with backpasses and even kept out Rio's bad header. Saved Anelka's penalty to become the hero. 8

Wes Brown: Had Malouda then Kalou in his pocket and supplied a brilliant cross for Ronaldo. His best performance of the season in the biggest game of it. 8

Rio Ferdinand: Did his job quite well, was very unlucky at the goal. He could have scored an own goal but he was clearly fouled by Ballack though Michel did not seem to notice. 7

Nemanja Vidic: His tussle with Drogba was a fascinating one, with both players up for really dirty tricks to be honest. He shaded the battle I thought. 8

Patrice Evra: Brilliant throughout, had any other player been on the left side of our defence Joe Cole would have killed us. Supported the attacks well and the way he created the chance for Giggs in extra time... brilliant. 8

Owen Hargreaves: The best penalty of the night and a great performance. Never got tired, he was our Essien on the right. Surely to play a more prominent role next season. 8

Paul Scholes: Attacking passes: 2. It was highlighted when he was finally brought off. Not his best game by any means but at least he was part of a victorious final. 5

Michael Carrick: Brilliant in the first half, his passing and interceptions were vital to United's superiority. Shame he did not score as he could have put the game beyond Chelsea. His influence faded later as his lack of pace was exposed by the dynamism of the opponent. Confident penalty. 7

Cristiano Ronaldo: Missed his penalty, yes. His penalty-taking routine, with this strange dance and the stopping, is annoying. But after labelled as someone who can't deliver in the big games he produced a great performance during the 120 minutes, scored our goal and threatened on every occasion he got the ball. He was fouled persistently and deliberately yet no yellow cards were dished out. The usual... 8

Wayne Rooney: United mainly attacked on the flanks and it left him a bit isolated. Did a huge job, ran a lot but he was far from his best this time. 6

Carlos Tevez: Ran, ran and ran again but missed his chances to put the game beyond Chelsea's reach. Confident penalty. 7

Ryan Giggs: His introduction did a lot towards easing United's nerves and he could have won the game for us but found Terry's head instead. Cool penalty. 7

Luis Nani: Came on late and did not have much impact - in the very final moments, he passed the ball to Hargreaves instead of shooting from 20 yards despite his brilliant goals against Spurs and Boro. Converted his penalty confidently. 7

Anderson: I think he should have been brought on earlier, not just for the penalties but he converted his. Another one who will play a very prominent role next season.

i dont think a better decision to move has ever been made than by carrick when he decided to join us. inthe two years he has been with us he has won two league titles, a champions league whilst also appearing in an FA Cup final. he has been integral to our team this season and im so glad sir alex paid out the £18.5 million for his services. lets hope his medal cabinet gets bigger in the coming seasons.

Could also judge some of the Man Utd players on the use of elbows and some Chelsea players for their diving! :o) Giggs 20 / 10. Legend!
The Fear
The things you read on the chelsea site.... "Ronaldo was crying like a baby..." " We dominated the game! So lucky MAN U"... its like we were never on that field...like you never created more, and clear cut chances than their super lucky goal that changed everything... alexpant
