El Mundo: Pique Passes Medical At Barca

The English media is not full of it but in Spain they seem to be confident that Gerard Pique will sign for Barcelona.

The 20-year-old defender is believed to be frustrated with his limited first-team opportunitites as he plays second fiddle to Ferdinand, Vidic and even Brown. With rumours circulating that United want to sign Micah Richards and Jonny Evans could return from Sunderland, Pique could easily leave.

A Ł5m price tag has been quoted and Spanish paper El Mundo Deportivo reports that the parties have agreed this fee. Furthermore, the newspaper claims Pique is already in Barcelona and has passed a medical. He will be officially unveiled after Wednesday's Champions League final.

I don't know how much is true about these rumours but it has a certain irony to it: Barcelona buy a player who they nurtured then lost for a nominal fee... I do not want to lose Pique as he could have a great future but Jonny Evans looks the brighter prospect for me so it's such a huge loss, especially as the Vidic-Rio pair could have five more great years ahead of them.

Of course we'll bring everything that is revealed about Pique's case so watch this space.

yeah i like him but hes got too much potential to be on the bench 3/4 of the season, probably more. p;us if we get a right back, brown will presumably becoem a substitute central defender meanign pique wil fall doewn the pecking order further. good luck to him at barca if its true, if not, i still think he may leave.
